Thanks for the thread suggestion, Passion.   Smiley

True Blood - HBO website:  http://www.hbo.com/true-blood/index.html

Spoilers are OK, but please be considerate of other members who will see episodes in later time zones.  When posting a spoiler please clearly identity it as such at the beginning of your post.

Thanks!  Enjoy the series!

Yes yes-our very own Trueblood thread. Let's agree that we abide by a "spoiler warning" if you've read the books and are going to jump ahead and give plot info. I've resisted the books because the Alan Ball adaptation is so GTEAT , I don't want to spoil anything. I've read on Trueblood and Sookie Stackhouse book fansites that the series is very true to the novels but that we shouldn't count on it 100% -for example some characters are shown differently. Anyway -let's try no to spoil things. I can reccomend these fansites :

( the fan created art work ROCKS ) Most are totally Trueblood ADDICTED

Sookie even has her own Facebook page -HBO has done a lot of ground work for this series and I'm so glad we'll have a second season. I was a devoted Moonlight and New Amsterdam fan and was really disappointed when they were taken away by the networks.

trueblood is total escape and I LOVE IT

I was sucked in at the credits in the first episode

Wow!  I am the first (or second! Wink )  I am just now listening to an Alan Ball old interview on NPRs Fresh Air. He is explaining the show and his comment that "apparently vampires are good at sex" totally cracks me up!  He said that he thinks they "may be good at it because they have been around for 100 years and have been able to prefect their technique!"  I just love Alan Ball!!

So, I guess we need some rules for this thread!  Would everyone agree that Spoilers are Ok as long as the show has been broadcasted?  The show airs on Sunday nights and there are only 3 episodes left in this season.  The other issue is the book series.  Some people have knowledge of the plot which I guess is different than the show but could have some spoiler information but could also fill in blanks for us!   What do you all think?

Woot!  Our very own True Blood thread.  Thanks, Passion, BrokenOkie!

For what it's worth, I've read all the Southern Vampire books and it hasn't detracted one bit from my enjoyment of the tv series.  It's been fun to see what I'd previously only imagined in my head play out in front of my eyes.  I fully expect Alan Ball to take the series further from the books as it progresses but at least this first season has been fairly faithful to the intention if not the literal word.  I'll be careful not to spoil, though.

You do a great job JoeAnn!  I am not worried about spoilers!  I think your knowledge of the books will add to our conversations and especially fill in the blanks!  Yeah!  I think I will post my first PM to you!

i do have one really interesting fansite on tap, so i know some things about sookie's coming love life, or at least where the books go.  i just try to file the info into the wait and see category, as i am pretty sure alan ball has his own ideas of what to do with the story.

you see though, i haven't had time to catch the last episode.  maybe tonight, but probably not until tomorrow, what with election results.  it usually doesn't hit the web until monday at the earliest, sometimes later.

i should think photos, art work, and vid links would be welcome though.  i am crazy for jason stackhouse, the character, as played by ryan kwanten.  i used to play in those fields, back in the day.  it was easier than one would think.  Evil Evil

Thanks everyone.
I am glad we have this thread to talk about this great show.
I am mostly keeping up with the episodes.
Haven't watched the last one from Sunday, but will after tonight!

Great idea about the Spoiler Alert!  I think that will work out.  I also know that when I come to a thread and am behind on a show (because I haven't had time to watch it) that I risk reading spoilers.  There are only 3 more episodes so I think this thread will be just fine!

Thanks Glenn for helping get this started!

Forget a few "critics" Trueblood is a SMASH HIT with the fans :

HBO’s 'True Blood' Sucking Up More Viewers
http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6611515.html

Maybe it’s the season -- after all, Halloween is just in the rear mirror -- but HBO’s vampire series, True Blood, continues to build an audience.

The series, based on the Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse book series and starring Anna Pacquin and Stephen Moyer, staked a season-high Sunday night, drawing 2.35 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research live + same-day data.

The show’s ninth installment continued the upward trend of the past few weeks that saw the seventh episode draw 2 million viewers, gauged on the aforementioned metric and the eighth installment count 2.1 million watchers.

The series premiere on Sept. 7 pulled in 1.4 million watchers, meaning the Nov. 2 installment posted a 63% rise from the debut.

True Blood, which HBO has renewed for a second campaign, has also been scoring well on a cumulative basis. Officials at the premium service indicate that the gross audience for the first five episodes averaged 6.4 million, when replays, DVR and HBO On Demand viewing is tabulated.

Fingers crossed for a THIRD SEASON !

OK -the guys at Afterelton.com have 2 Trueblood fan areas, one is a video blog from Brian at Bloodwork . They do a weekly review of the previous Sunday's episode. This weeks is really cute -with Brian and his boo Andy "shape shifting" as their cats . Enjoy and you might add this to your other Trueblood sites to visit from time to time

Notice : NO spoilers if you've seen episode # 9
