Just a quick thanks to DC Luke and Thunder 88 for donations this past week to the library campaign. We are still going on this campaign (recently we were able to place another 30 videos from a member donation).

Thanks to all. Keep donating those DVDs when you can!

Pete

Hey Pete...I'm sure there's a place here to see this, but I've lost it - where is the updated list for what has been donated where?

I bought about a dozen copies (ordered from Amazon through Dave's site back in late winter/early spring) with every intention of donating them to various libraries here in Illinois. But I decided to begin the process of circulating the DVD's to people who either didn't have access to them or couldn't afford them.
One of them, I gave to a gay senior ( who is in a senior citizen home.) He viewed it and then played it on movie night at the seniors home so that both gay and non-gay residents could watch it communally. I have a few left and I'm circulating them in varous ways like this----every time I discover a situation like that where a person or persons didn't get a chance to see it, I donate a copy for them to view and keep.

I am glad that the DVD Campaign is ongoing.  I have really enjoyed participating in it and helping to spread the message of BBM.  I'll buy some more DVDs towards the end of the month.

Can someone help out a loser? I have for weeks meant to e mail or call some libraries in Northern California and every week I don't because I am afraid of getting a nasty reply or rejection. With everything else I have going on I could not stand it at the moment. Any ideas or encouragement. I want to contribute but I feel afraid to.

Daphne and Chloe -- Thanks for caring about the DVD Campaign.  Right now we are not calling libraries as our funds are very low.  If that situation changes, then we will call again.

Netlfix is selling previously viewed copies of the BBM DVD for $7.99.    They are in the original case with the original art.

Seems like a cheap way to get the DVD into some more libraries....

Update on Our DVD Campaign

We are very excited that Annie Proulx has singled out our DVD campaign for special recognition. To date, we have donated over 450 DVDs to 48 states, several Canadian provinces, two countries in Europe, and The Bahamas (where BBM was banned). We have funds to make donations to the other two states--we are just waiting on a library in those two states to accept our DVD donation.

Our volunteers are still calling libraries, donating DVDs and money, and helping us to place DVDs. If you would like to help, we have two easy ways for anyone to assist:

1. Donate money--To place a DVD costs us approximately $20. To donate money for us to purchase and place DVDs, follow this link:

http://www.davecullen.com/brokebackmountain/adcampaign.html

2. Ship a DVD Yourself--If you would like to purchase and ship a DVD yourself, we have a list of libraries still waiting to receive the DVD from us. Having individuals purchase and ship one DVD helps us to speed up the process. So, for the price of a DVD plus shipping, you can ship a DVD to a library. Contact peteinportland at pete@davecullen.com or via PM to get an address for a library waiting for a DVD.

We would love to reach 1,000 libraries by the end of the year. You can help us make it happen!

I received a used copy of the DVD that I purchased from Netflix for $7.99, that I am going to send off to a library (thanks, Pete).   I wanted to report that the condition of the DVD is excellent.  It's in the original case.  The only thing missing is the cellophane.   Of course I had to watch it all the way through to be sure there were no glitches, and there were none.  Wink

Phil,

Thanks for taking on the task of watching the movie to be sure the DVD was okay. Such sacrifices are made by our members!

Hi there,

Just to let you guys know, I got the nicest note back from the library in Ada thanking me for the donation. Now that I know that Netflic is selling BBM cheaper than half.com I will buy some more DVDs to send. Let's get the message out there!
