Huckabee whining say the GOP failed and must to stay away from "Mushy Middle".
Great the GOP will further distance its self if it keeps going to the RIGHT. What a major A-hole.

So, how do you feel about the Auto Bailout? Personally I prefer bailing them out over the banks. Sad part is Bush doesn't want to. Could it be a way to kill the auto union. Another sad part is that they would be getting money allread set aside for the bailout, it will not involve new money.

Personally, I love these declarations by the wingnut brigade that the way out of the wilderness for the gop is to become even MORE radically right.

The fanatical christofascists are declaring war on the moderates. I'm going to pop some popcorn and enjoy the show.

To be fair, this is only one of the court cases filed by the "citizenship" wingnuts. There are 2 others, I believe. Not that any of them will amount to anything.

Speculation- will the citizenship truthers declare the (extremely conservative) SCOTUS justices "activist judges" for disarding these ridiculous charges? Stay tuned.....

Rosewood, I agree with nearly everything you say, especially your last point.  I don't know about the "joy" part, but I have seen and heard Gregory in formats where he seems goofier and more fun-loving (this would not be his stints on Today, I program I studiously avoid). Obviously there was no one with that singular combination of qualities that Russert developed over the years. Gregory can come across as uptight, which could never be said of Russert. I think it highly unlikely they would have seriously considered someone outside the NBC family, and he was the most likely choice. I agree with the subsequent comments about Andrea Mitchell, and much as I like Chuck Todd I don't think he has the chops for it yet. And I do like Shuster, even though he comes across as a little high strung and can be caustic (recall his suspension from MSNBC for using the term "pimped out" to characterize the manner in which Chelsea Clinton's parents deployed her to contact uncommitted delegates). But I digress. It has been suggested that Meet the Press and the like are staggering dinosaurs, but I don't think they'll ever die and personally enjoy the opportunity to see our leaders, or those compelled to appear, put through their paces.  It will be interesting to see Gregory develop his own style - I expect it'll evolved as he grows more secure in the format and in that particular chair.

Well, David Gregory gets MEET THE PRESS.

I'm not thrilled.
He's just a little too fond of himself.

I can't help but think Gregory was chosen because the head honchos couldn't
find anyone else at NBC and didn't want to have to bother hiring and training
someone new.

But who knows?
He may win me over.
Anything's possible.

Gay band association accepted for inauguration festivities
Obama parade will be first to feature gay groups

Quote
The Lesbian and Gay Band Association, a musical group with members from gay marching and symphonic bands across the country, has been accepted by President-elect Barack Obama to march in the 2009 inaugural parade.

This is the first inaugural parade to feature a gay group. Former President Clinton allowed gay groups to perform on the sidewalk during the parade, but not to march. The Lesbian and Gay Band Association participated in both of Clinton's inaugurations.

"This is the first time that an LGBT group will be represented in a Presidential Inaugural Parade, truly our chance to make history," said the association's inaugural committee to members Saturday.

One of my hotel's owners donated to NO on Prop 8, so I am working tomorrow.

And the bank that I work for has marched in the NYC Pride parade, and offers medical benefits to same sex partners, so I'm working tomorrow too.

I could understand if we were all calling out "gay" to go somewhere or do something to further the cause, but to call out for the sake of just calling out, it doesn't make much sense to me.

I will, however, go along with the "not spending any cash" tomorrow part of the protest.

while i don't think much of this idea, it isn't just call out, it is also call in and volunteer for some service project, making it clear why you are giving that days service.

i am much more in support of jointheimpact's 20th of december candlelight vigil wearing t-shirts  saying 2nd class citizen, or friend is, or parent is, or teacher is etc.

this is to be done at malls and other commercial sites... 5 days before christmas.

Actually, the protest calls for those people calling in to spend the day volunteering for community service.

I didn't see that part before......now that's better than just "calling out".
