OMG, they just arrested the Illinois Governor on corruption and one of the aspects of the case is that the FBI thought that the Governor was going to sell the Senate seat!

When I was back in Illinois in October one of my friends (a tried and true Democrat) was telling me what a big jerk the Governor was...whoa!  He makes Elliot Spitzer look absolutely genteel!

Well good luck with that...it would be kind of hard to say that he was involved in selling his senate seat before he won the election.

What I want to know is what is it with Governors?  Jim McGreevey, Eliot Spitzer and now Rod Blagojevich.  Whoa!  Shocked

Des:
Yes, hopefully Gregory will grow into the job.
I wouldn't want to lose MEET THE PRESS, dinosaur or not.
But there's just something about him....
You know how in the workplace there's always someone
you just never can bring yourself to trust and you don't
know exactly why? He gives me that vibe.

Anyway, on to more important things.
Did any of you see the last episode of BOSTON LEGAL last night?
The James Spader character and William Shatner's got married.
It was VERY well done, I thought.
Made me kind of misty.

They are such wonderful actors and brought so much intensity
and feeling to these two particular characters. Both of whom, really,
should have been extremely unlikeable.

Wish they hadn't cancelled this show.
It's the only drama that had the guts to show their liberal slant
with extreme gusto.

So the governor of Illinois was arrested for the usual
crapola. I mean, when will these sorts of people learn?
Never, obviously.
The media is in a frenzy.
Tell you why: they think somewhere, somehow this will loop in
Obama.

Makes me want to hurl.

Yeah, but like Michael and Rosewood, I am aghast that he would even consider anything like that for SO many reasons -- not the least of which is that it would sully the process of Obama's transition.

You would think on the top of his list of good reasons NOT to create scandal, would be his own survival in politics.

Didn't he see what just happened in Alaska?

And Eliot Spitzer, I am still in distress over the loss of Eliot Spitzer due to his own self-destruction.

This is interesting too....

Berkeley city council urges U.S. to prosecute former Bush official
Carolyn Jones, Chronicle Staff Writer
Tuesday, December 9, 2008

(12-09) 11:19 PST Berkeley -- After an emotional, fiery debate over academic freedom and torture, Berkeley's city council passed a measure late Monday night imploring the U.S. to prosecute Berkeley resident and former White House official John Yoo for war crimes.

Yoo, a tenured professor at UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law, wrote the legal memos justifying torture while interrogating terrorism suspects while he served as Deputy Assistant Attorney general for the Bush administration in 2001-03.

"John Yoo took a material involvement in the deaths and torture of untold numbers of people," said city councilman Max Anderson, choking back tears during the council's debate. "The broken bodies, the broken spirits, the broken trust he wrought with his actions - that's why they call these crimes against humanity."

Can Bush pardon people before they are indicted or accused?

Maybe that is why some of these accusations are being delayed?

I don't think so.

A person would have to be tried and convicted first.

I hope it's case closed, but you never know what someone will try to make of it.

I share Tom's fear about that.

I could understand if we were all calling out "gay" to go somewhere or do something to further the cause, but to call out for the sake of just calling out, it doesn't make much sense to me.

Actually, the protest calls for those people calling in to spend the day volunteering for community service.

My friend Rich is in New York tomorrow seeing a couple shows.
I hope they don't all call in on Broadway or his shows will be cancelled!
LOL...
