Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. :'(
The shirts hanging on a nail shudder slightly in the draft.

If he does not force his attention on it, it might stoke the day, rewarm that old, cold time on the mountain when they owned the world and nothing seemed wrong.

Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive
But to be young was very heaven!

Came across this, OnBeing is a program about religion and philosophy on Public Radio Sunday morning.

Quite interesting.

Quote
“I’ve asked myself, ‘Why in the church does the question of gays and lesbians have such adrenaline.’ And I’ve decided, for myself, that that means most of what we’re arguing about with gays and lesbians has nothing to do with gays and lesbians. It is, rather, that the world is not the way we thought it was going to be. There have always been gays and lesbians; we’d have to acknowledge them.

It’s not fashionable any more to protest pushy blacks. It’s not fashionable to protest pushy women. Those battles are lost, or won. But you can still have great moral indignation around gays and lesbians.

And so I think what has happened is that we’ve taken all of our anxiety about the old world disappearing and we’ve dumped it all on that issue. So, I have concluded that it’s almost futile to have the theological argument about gays and lesbians any more because that’s not what the argument is about.”

Thanks Fritz for posting that link. Seems like theologians are discovering what politicians have found about exploiting the "other" for partisan advantage.

Yes, politicians make lousy theologians, and vice versa.

Mix religion and politics and wind up with the Taliban - armed with guns or IT, those who assume God is on their side believe that God allows them to breaks all the rules He gave them to keep themselves heaven-worthy!  WTF?

Shows the primacy of their own wills over the will of God. Highly convenient.

Don't mean to step on toes, but I'll help Sandy and Bri and answer.

Threads get locked and archived when they reach 500 pages.  Essentially they become "Read Only" at that point.

You can find that thread you were looking for here:

http://www.davecullen.com/forum/index.php?board=72.0

The thread is locked, but if you wanted to quote something, you could always highlight the text, copy it, and then come to this thread, and in the reply box hit right click and then click 'paste' and the text will appear.  Then just highlight the text and click the button that looks like a word balloon above the devil smilie, and the quote tag should appear.

Hi bri,

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. Vacation and internet connections issues.

I see some members have already given you some advice. If that doesn't work, let me know.

Good to see you,

Sandy
