I've never watched enough to get to the giggle. Doubt that would bother me. She was off one season and I watched most of that.

I meant to say before that you have a good point about everyone having to learn the different dances and the... whatever they are... being eliminated. So I guess my real problem, besides scheduling, is Mary and if she weren't there, I'd probably work around the scheduling.

She was off the season Mia was on, but she continued to guest judge...and was there for the finals.     I actually really liked Mia.   Can't wait to see what happens this week...

They seem to use a lot of guest judges.

guest judges are now part of the format, and cheaper too i'll wager.

mary's shriek is beyond annoying, but she has somehow become beloved of the dancers.  i employ the age old MUTE button solution.  my own input is just as good as hers

i watched, and picked the winner... witney carson, the 18 year old ballroom girl.

in all my viewing, i have never seen such star quality wedded to such technique.  there will be a lot of other good dancers, but something tells me she's the one.

fortunately, she is only competing against the other girl dancers, so a guy does have a chance to win.

thank god... this past week we at least had SOME dancing.  the standout, among some fine dancers, was a swiss ballet boy named chehon, who it turns out with a youtube search for a particular solo is a virtual ballet star soloist, without a doubt the highest achiever ever to enter the ranks.  i knew he was good, great even, but until i searched for a particular solo, i hadn't realized his place in the ballet world.  he is not used to anything BUT first place.  talk about elevating the competition.  but can he krump is the question, and one that he wants the answer to as well.

there are other exceptional males, but they are minor league by comparison.  they are going to have to raise their game to stay in the competition.

AND...  next wednesday we have the dreaded green mile wherein the top 20 are selected.  the 2nd hour will be a "free" round in which all 20 get a chance to dance in their favorite style as an introduction, and the game seriously has begun.

i managed, as i sometimes do, to oversleep missing all but the last 3, and i would venture to say most important, dance routines.  i caught up with the others by video shortly after.  all my picks made it to the top 20 promising a very interesting competition, if they will only STOP FUCKING WITH THE SCHEDULE!  are they TRYING to kill the show?  two weeks to wait before the first competition show.

kind of an interesting breakdown this year, 3 from the ballet world including 2 professional male dancers, 3 from ballroom, with two 18 year old blonde mormon girls, 3 assorted guys from odd individual fields, martial arts, stepping, and plain weirdness, a belly dancer, 4 as yet undistinguished contemporary dancers,  no tappers this year. another like pair of contemporary girls,
and that's what i remember off the top of my head.

i can produce links for the introductory non competition routines if anyone needs them.'
