William Levy hurt his ankle in rehearsal and may not be able to dance tonight. Couldn't he just stand there shirtless and wiggle his butt while Cheryl gyrates around him? 10-10-10!

haha. i'd watch that. but i REALLY like the way he moves.

Well, Willie-Boy said he could barely walk but took 3 or 4 pills and was feeling no pain when he danced Monday night. Torn tendon.

But, I like Tom Bergeron and think he does a good job hosting Dancing/Stars. The female host whose been there the last couple seasons is a different story. She's ok, but I prefer the woman who did it before.

I have never seen this dancing show, but I have met Tom before, (he is from the town next to mine in NH), and one can't help but be delighted in learning of the success that someone from my neck of the woods has had  Smiley

Torn tendon is serious. It's hard to imagine him lasting through the season on that. Especially if he has to keep abusing it to continue. Sad, sad, sad. Though you never know.

He's the ultimate in faux emotion, all hollywood schmoozy--makes my skin crawl. And that's before he forces the word "star" into every other sentence, as if saying it enough times about these people will make it true.

(Not that none of them are stars. Some definitely were, a few still are. Most, are/were perhaps a star in some niche somewhere, but hardly how the word is normally used. They're game for doing the show, and it's a hell of a a lot of work, but trying to force the idea that it's a bunch of stars doing it, seems unnecessary and futile.)

And yet, somehow, Dancing with the Wannabees just doesn't do it for me.

there is a great line in a trailer for the epic dance movie STEP UP 4 revolution
girl says to boy, can you dance
boy says to girl, you know how this works, i stand here and hold a beer, and you dance sexy around me and make me look good.

worth seeing for that line, and the ensuing performance, alone.

tom bergeron is a very adept host and essentially ringmaster of a lunatic circus.  is he glib, he kinda has to be.  i don't think he did hollywood squares, but i haven't seen that show in years.  he is best known for hosting america's funniest home videos, ladling on the bad puns that middle america loves.

for dwts, see how i avoiding saying stars, at least, his is able to quickly pivot away from comments that might prove to be a disaster.  brooke burke charvet, as she styles herself, is another matter, a few minutes of her and i am banging my head into my keyboard, which is never not in front of me, tv or not.  to call her inept would be insulting inept.

Tonight is Motown night on Dancing/Stars. Way to go producers!
I just hope they don't get carried away and have a rapper/hiphop/snapcracklepop night next.

Thank goodness THAT's over. Gladys has left Dancing/Stars. All three judges were continually complementary but I just didn't get it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, she's 110 years old and an icon. But honestly, I enjoyed watching that old republican senator more. (Not Tip O'Neill. The other one.)

well, there you go... Smiley

setting gladys free was an act of mercy.

did anyone notice the spotlight performance.  once again, travis wall, originally a runner up on sytycd and now one of the directors/choreographers of a new dance ensemble "shaping sounds" who were the performers.  after a couple of years of each pretending that the other didn't exist, they have become virtually incestuous.

travis and his three buddies at the core of the corps so to speak, will soon have their own show on the oxygen channel.  with two gay and two straight horny dancers in their mid 20's, it promises to be a flesh and drama fest.

Dancing/Stars surprised the hell out of me tonight. It was classical night and although I LOVE classical music, I don't see it as something to dance to. And yet, the couples made it work, it some cases, work better than a lot of other nights.
I scored Katherine and Maria the highest. No surprise with Katherine, but Maria also impressed the judges... to the tune of the first 10-10-10 of the season. Then I had Donald and Melissa. Again, no surprise with D and he was only a tad under the first two ladies. But Melissa was outstanding! Except the judges gave her the lowest score of the night, 21. And I put William right there with D and M, except a shade lower. And bringing up the rear, Roshon and Jaleel. Maria did a paso doble (as a vampire) while Kat, Melissa and Roshon tangoed and the other 3 did waltzes.
THEN we went to team dancing. Katherine's team of Maria, Roshon and Jaleel did a tango and Will's team gave us a paso. I absolutely LOVED the paso from the get go and the judges' comments seem to suggest they did as well. Team Tango was almost as good BUT the judges rated them 1 point higher even though their comments seem more critical. Oh well.
Jaleel and Roshon should go next, I hope.

And Jackie Evanko was on as guest singer. She has a great voice, but I just can't watch her sing. Just like Jim Neighbors. The voice and the look don't jive.

Good on Dancing/Stars. There is just something... mean... about Jaleel White. Not sorry he's gone.
About to watch him on Kimmel....  Ok, so he wasn't bitter or nasty which is what I was expecting. Maybe I've misread him.

And David Arquette was on... Kim's previous partner. Don't know much about him and maybe he's always that... off the wall. Or maybe he was a little drunk?
