Less than a week... I gotta check zap to see the scheduled time 'cause I'm into The Bachelor (8-10) and Alcatraz (9-10.) Castle, I can (and WILL) always catch up on.

Update...
zap has The Voice on after the football game and from 8-10 on Monday, followed by Smash.

Guess I'll wait until Monday to make up my mind who gets my vote. (Adult Glee for sure, it's the 8-10 slot that's a problem.)

well, the voice is kind of off for me, although it may get more musical and entertaining in the final rounds.

the BIG news is, of course, DWTS, which i tried to swear off of but failed, is back, and back with a bang.

i'll try not to waste too much time writing for my fan... but here goes, running from memory, so might just forget some.

team gay first, because, as far as i know, only one, martina navratilova, is competing this year, and bless here heart, as they say down south, she is giving it a game try, but i doubt if anyone will ever encourage her to dress like a lady again, if the ever did.  hey, she can still win titles in a doubles match, and she just beat cancer, of course she should give it a try.  she is lucky to be paired with one of the best, and most courtly of the pros, tony dovolani.  it was their misfortune to draw the foxtrot first, but since the other choice was cha cha, it was 6 of one half dozen of the other.

moving right along, the next to pop into my head was sheri shepard, who actually was rather good. she manage to rise and fall and glide where needed, and had just about the best posture/frame of the ladies.  she also played OUT to the audience quite unselfconsciously.  she also had the good fortune to be paired with maks' baby bro, val, who, tho pretty obnoxious is elegant or sexy as is apporpriate.

katherine jenkins may not be too familiar to american audiences, and no doubt cracking the american popular market is a factor in her appearing, but she is a well know international opera singer who does a bit of pop on the side, and much better at it than most opera trained singers.  i am familiar with her because i watch a bit of european programming via computer and youtube, and got to see her non classical side as a judge in a brit competition called FROM POP STAR TO OPERA STAR in which regular pop singers are coached by opera singers and each week perform an aria picked to showcase their progress or lack thereof.  i have watched for the gay or near gay pop singers like joe mcelderry & one of the mcfly bros or bandmates and come to enjoy the premise.  she no doubt has some dance training because she was quite at home in a flowing gown and sweeping round the floor.  her partner was mark ballas, and once again, relationship rumors are already starting.

next to mind is jaleel white (urkel) who is a surprise to some, but i had seen him perform elsewhere and knew that he had long outgrown the urkel character.  what i most noted was the posture and picture perfect arm gestures.  he seemed to know exactly where his body and arm needed to be and got there gracefully.  he danced with kym johnson, defending champ.  they could be a pair to reckon with

once again a kid from disney channel, roshon fagan, and he draws the petite chelsie hightower,  he's all arms, legs and elbows but still surprising doing a fluid cha cha with great hip action.  he should go a few rounds.  poor chelsie keeps getting stuck making men out of little boys.

i'll sign off for tonight (eyes crossing) with the most interesting team.  the dancing was better than okay, less than great, but the real story was in the celeb, and for once he is a huge star, just not here in the states.  his name is the very accountant-like william levy  and totally doesn't do him justice.  he is cuban born, works and lives in mexico where he is enormously popular telenovella hearthrob and frequent model.  and he is fracking gorgeous.  tall with great features, rather like a younger ricky martin, but with even more smolder which he can turn on and off on demand.  and lucky cheryk burke gets him.  i say lucky, because for a good long time his latina (and gay) fans are going to keep him to the finals.  he can move, but several other guys moved better.  the audience, knowing he was performing was packed to the rafters with his latina fan base, and the roar when his name was mentioned was deafening, as was the standing o after he finished.  look for cheryl to milk the sex appeal  with bare chest and anything else she can get away with.

too be continued...

It sounds like we watched the same Dancing/Stars last night. Over all, I think it was the best first night performances ever... which everyone kept remarking on and the judges' many eights and nines reflect. Next week is going to be interesting, especially since the second week usually sees scores plummet.

At the bottom, last night, were the male singer, Darren somebody, and the Little House actress, Melissa Gilbert and one point above were the entertainment hostess, Maria M?, and the football palyer.

The one who impressed me the most was the classical singer. She is gorgeous and dances very well. No stiff upper lip there!

i'm about ready to go comatose again tonight, but regarding your review i concur with reservations.  i would put menounos in dead last.  she is oafishly clumsy and that was disguised by a well designed routine. and that LAUGH, donkey's bray is sweeter.

gavin degraw i'd move up a couple slots although i don't know who i'd put between them.  too tired to think.  maybe later.

Dancing/Stars didn't hold my interest as much last night as last week. I thought the scoring was a little off in many cases... for instance, Sheri Shepherd should have been a tad higher and Jack Wagner a tad lower. Actually, their scores could have been exchanged and I would have been happy. The Disney kid is very good as is the Brit. The footballer is impressive. Jaleel slipped slightly. The singer, darren?, should be the first to go. And I just was unimpressed with Gladys Knight period. The rest, as far as I remember, were ok but nothing to write home about THIS SEASON. Any other time, I'd be more excited about them.

he really isn't that good a dancer, simply cuban.  they all come with greased hips.  that could probably be less specific and broadened to latino, but i think it becomes weakened as the scope of the metaphor becomes larger.  i can personally vouch for cubans and puerto ricans, not so much the remainder.

Dancing/Stars got it wrong last night. Gladys, Melissa and Darren are still there and Sheri is not.

Oh, and the ballet dancer who did the tango last night moves like a ballet dancer and not a ballroom dancer. I never gave it much thought before, but I expected him to prowl/stalk across the floor like the ballroom pros do. Interesting.
