She said that on her 20th anniversay dvd push show today. they went out on a date before her show went national.

So they were friends a long time ago , so i'm not surprised with the silliness regarding their mutual endorsement of crash

Another conceited Gay man. I left a note. His account for Crash was quite... delusional.

Delusional is the word.  'Wouldn't appeal to urban dwellers' is one of the many bizarre remarks.  What - you'd only like BBM if you lived in the mountains?? Whut?

"(Ebert) probed the post-Oscar brouhaha by asking people who had seen both Brokeback Mountain and Crash to vote as to which was the better picture, and the crowd voted overwhelmingly for Crash -- Ebert's choice, as well as the outcome he predicted."

Here's the link: http://www.dane101.com/festival/2006/04/01/wisconsin_film_festival_2006_roger_ebert_in_the_peoples_republic_of_madison

And Mr. Roeper, in his usual smartass way wrote this in his March 31 column titled "Answers to Condi, Syracuse and 'Brokeback' outrage"

http://www.suntimes.com/output/roeper/cst-nws-roep29.html

Don't you find it odd Ebert brings this up himself?  Then to poll this audience who voluntarily sought him out (and presumably Ebert fans) to support his position?
It just looks a little defensive.

And Roeper - can't read any more of his stuff.  Dim bulb.  And annoying to boot.

Ebert has to be defensive because his view is so at odds with the overwhelming critical and awards consensus.

Guess what ..

Ebert and Roeper gave "Brokeback Mountain" 2 very big thumbs up as DVD release on their show.

hmm, i know they both liked it , but there resistance to Crash's win debacle, was not too admirable.

Film’s showing irks Tech professor
By John Grant Emeigh of The Montana Standard - 04/09/2006
http://www.mtstandard.com/articles/2006/04/09/newsbutte/hjjdjfjajaecgg.txt

[snip]

After it was announced Friday that the film was going to be shown on campus Tuesday, a professor raised the ire of some students and staff by sending out a mass e-mail objecting to this movie.

Professor Willis Weight sent an e-mail questioning why the Student Union Office would show a movie that pushes “the gay and lesbian agenda on the public.” The Academy Award-winning film was the subject of international cheers and jeers last fall for its portrayal of two gay cowboys.

They are absolutely in love with  Rash! Unbelievable. Have you watched their show recently. They COMPLETELY disagree constantly. I love when one or the other complain that a movie plot is preposterous (eg, Lucky # Sleven)...I guess they did not think Rash was preposterous! BTW, where is your Magic Cloak? Grin

Firstly, Roger Ebert may have liked BBM and even placed in his Top 10 of 2005, but his near-hysterical and baying support of Crass - ahem, Crash - leading up to the Oscars was highly annoying. It just proved what I have always known (and disliked) about Ebert - he is a priggish hack of a has-been who almost always pumps for over-inflated, so-called meaningful movies. Screw him. As for that idiot of a sidekick of his, Roeper, and the very public backlash he made against BBM supporters post Oscars...hmmmm...what a sententious twerp.

On a minor mote re critic reviews etc, I have ben peeved how in my country one of the top newspapers gave BBM a glowing review but still only 8/10, whilst giving 9/10 to films like Capote, King Kong and (grrrrr) Munich. I find that so damned annoying. By the way: did anyone find Capote a very sound, very competent yet ultimately dry and overrated film? And, please do let me know, did ANYONE out there HATE Munich as much as I did?? I just found it so very poorly scripted, the sense of time and place very contrived and felt the entire film was a boring travelogue through 70s Europe and Middle East?  You know, if its Tuesday it must be a bomb in Athens, kinda thing?? Cheers!  Wink

From now on, to be consistent, Ebert and Roeper must champion all films with preposterous plots, ridiculous dialog and diverse casts.  If they don’t, we need to email them and ask “why is this movie different from Crash?”

I'm looking forward to their review of Snakes on a Plane...

Agree with you about Capote and MunichCapote was well done but didn't move me... it was nothing to get excited about.  Munich had a very repetitive, plodding quality... it seemed to drag on and on and parts of the script sounded like speeches not real dialogue.

Both were way better than *rash though.
