Hi pwday,

The book has not yet been made available to Amazon.

Until then, it's only available directly from Wingspan Press.  Here's a link to the book site, where you can place an order:

Is there any word yet on how book sales are going?
Time to print another thousand, maybe?

Hi, Paul!

I was just about to write a little update for TDS.

The last report from WingSpan indicated that we had about 165 soft covers and 50 hard covers remaining out of our first printing of 1,000. The big rush of orders is over, but they're still moving out a few each week.

ChrisFewa and desertrat are working to eliminate the little errors that crept into that first edition and that process should be complete in about a week or so. We'll send the latest files to WingSpan who will then release it to Amazon, big chains such as Barnes and Noble, and independent booksellers worldwide. If your local bookseller needs to know how to order it, you can just say it's being distributed by Ingram, the 800-pound gorilla in the book distributing business. They'll know exactly who Ingram is.

For the future, there will not be a specific number printed. It will literally be printed on demand. And just a bit of trivia. Those books which will be sold via Amazon.co.uk, and various European booksellers will actually be printed there, avoiding the terrible time and cost of shipping overseas.

Regards,

You know, this post reminded me about something. During the bbq nobody knew whether anyone had gone to The Tattered Cover, which is a really fantastic independent  and very small book chain here in Denver. IMO, they can vie with the best anywhere.

Have we spoken with them? If not I can do it, and maybe get Loveemboys to come along; 2 heads are better then one.

Ahh, even this old Kentucky girl knows about The Tattered Cover. I see events from there on Book TV (CSPAN-2) all the time.

Are you thinking about doing a reading? Having a special event? That would be great, Jack. It's at least worth talking to them about it.

Hell, I was just thinking about them selling it. But those are great ideas lydia. Let me speak with Monica, and then maybe we can find out how to do this...

Was just wondering if any of the books have been sent to Annie. Jake, Heath Ang or anyone else involved with the making of BBM, I read posts awhile back that stated they would be sent copies if I am not mistaken-

Carlton, yes, you remember correctly. The Forum is sending copies of the book to
Ang Lee,
James Schamus,
Annie Proulx,
Diana Osanna,
Larry McMurtry,
Heath Ledger,
Jake Gyllenhaal,
Anne Hathaway, and
Michelle WIlliams.

The books are being accompanied by handwritten notes, usually from a Forum member who has had prior correspondence with them.

We hope we'll get a response from at least a few of them and if we do, we'll definitely post it here and put it in TDS.

I just really wonder what they'll think about the book. They certainly couldn't have received anything like this before.  Wink
