The book looks fantastic!  I can't believe the number of posts you managed to pack into it and I really like the way the writings are divided into sections.  I feel like I've found a diary from another time and have the pleasure of reading it without guilt; such personal stories and emotions.  Thank you to everyone involved in making this a reality  Kiss

As I am reading the book entries I am running to the computer to see if the author's are still posting and to read their profiles.  Am I the only one doing this?

The book reminds me of the early days on the thread - when everyone was sharing such personal and touching stories.  I am moved once again by the humanity and love in this place we call DCF.

Yes, I'm doing the same thing! I hope someone is  still in touch with each of those who have moved on from the Forum to let them know their story is in the book and the book is finally out.

Fofr tthose of us who have been here since the early days, I think it's turned out to be a good memento that time.
For newer members, they might be curious to see whether these revealing stories are the same as their reactions or not.

The book really looks great. I told KittyHawk in a personal email she did a great job putting it together, but I have to say that publicly, too. I can't help feel just a bit proud of my small part in helping to put it together.

I put it in the bookcase in the living room. Everytime I pass by, I have to pick it up and look at it. Then I get this sudden rush of joy. Then I realize I have to put it back down and get on with the thousand other things I need to do this weekend ... but I still pick it up...

Gave a copy to a deeply closeted friend last night.  Has never connected intimately with anyone.   Doesn't dare discuss Brokeback even with me, his oldest friend.  Suspect he'll find solace amongst the accounts.

I have had the book for days and can't reaqd it. It is a serious business, that book. Can't give it the time it deserves until after the bbq. I tried, was on the phone with WLAguy every 20 minutes., comparing.
I care about you all too much to read this book in between bouts of pre-BBQ insanity and manic re-landscaping of the house.
But I made sure my wife read what was written about her and us. When I get a chance I intend to write about THAT in detail, it deserves it.....I think she loves me more, if that were possible....the printed reference to her dumbassed ex husband as a 'shithead'?? I asked if she was ok with that and she burst out laughing, said she was going to scan it and mail it to him.

He is SUCH a shithead.

I folks, I have been a member of this forum for over a year but have rarely posted here due to my deficit of brain cells, I just can take it all in.

But this weekend, as I read betwixt tears the stories in the marveous book you folks put together I knew I had to. My Gawd what a treasure you have created. I am going to order more copies for gifts, give one to my local library. I think these stories will reach more people in the printed for, or at least a segment not on line.

The selection you made were very good ones, raised and addressed a multitude of issues and just testified. Testified to this thing. The Brokeback Effect. It is one of the stranges animals I have ever witnessed come thru my life.

You all have a LOT of good Karma comming your way.

shakestheground --

It's so great to hear that the book impacted you enough to convince you to delurk and let us know.  THANK YOU!

I know the forum admin team occasionally ponders the question of how many members we actually have, and that is a difficult question to answer because we know there are active members out there -- who aren't posting.  And thats an entirely valid way to interact with the forum!  Its just a hard thing for us to quantify.  So I, for one, really appreciate when they do surface from time to time.

Jack -- you are so right on this.  I've been loath to admit I haven't finished the book yet either, but it is more out of respect for the content than a dis-interest, for sure!  But I too want to prep my husband on certain parts.  Though not about us, they will be about / from people I'm looking forward to meeting at the BBQ and I figured it would appropriate to give him the background first.  But, ah, I find that the BBQ IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING!   Cheesy  I guess I better get on that assigning homework reading thing.   Wink
