i had hoped for zuraffo, but apparently he is not around these days. otherwise, i would have handed it over for translations ages ago. i also have a friend who speaks chinese, but i think, especially in a "sensitve" area like china, we should have a native speaker go over it (especially since there are not many people in here who could even quickly give it a look whether the contents are ok, because for most of is, it will just be modern art  Wink

Hey guys --

Here are a couple of DRAFT photos of the authors and volunteers.  We did have an actual professional photographer in our midst (without knowing it - LMAO), so I can't wait to see his.

But here are the ones I had taken over his shoulder:

In a previous post (#402) I commented about my first encounter with Beyond Brokeback.  I made time within vacation preparations to read the first chapter and discovered that it reactivated in me the quiet but insistent Brokeback Mountain ache that I thought had finally subsided.  I left on vacation, expecting to return to a fulfilling but not emotionally easy journey thru the rest of the book.

I had no idea of what I was in for.

I have been back a week and have had ample time to read the entire book, but have only managed to get up to Chapter 17.  I read several posts and then have to stop, my eyes so full of tears that I can't see.  When I clear that up, I am shaking so hard that I can't go on.  I have to let the crying happen and pet my dog and put another load of clothes in the washer until I feel composed enough to read more.  And it doesn't get any easier.  I read more, see bits and pieces of my life and I am again in tears.  And harder, I see things that I have never managed to make a part of my life.  That stops me for more crying.

When I first saw Brokeback Mountain (the first 8 or 10 times) the ache and longing was all about Ennis and Jack.  They were always there watching me.  But they're no longer alone, they are now joined by Johnathan and James, Michael and Billy, MSPJeff, Titus, Jim Titzman, and exennis.  And I ache now for them all, and for myself.

Now I am stopped in the middle of the poetry chapter.  I can't get past Pentecost.  I am dealing with such mixed feelings now.  I want to read more but am reluctant to continue right now.  Partly because I am not sure I am up to handling the emotions, and partly because I don't want to get to the end of the book and have no more stories to read.

I'm a mess right now...

KittyHawk:  I was so moved by Pentecost that I wanted to PM B73 about it.  The system gives me a "name not found".  Is he(she?) no longer active?

JRB, I hate that the book makes you so sad. There are some happy stories, too, and I hope soon you'll be able to see the bright side of some of them.

I haven't been in touch with B73, but I'll ask around and if anyone knows how to get in touch with her, I'll let you know.

Hugs to you, JRB. Take care.

Maggie / B73 is still with the forum.

Huurm.  That is weird.  She did leave the forum some time ago, and then came back with the same name.  Not sure why the member search claims it can't locate her.

Her livejournal is at:  http://b73.livejournal.com/

Jess, I'm so glad I got to meet you at the BBQ - even if only for a second. Your husband and Monica's seem like great guys, I might add!   Wink

Do you have a way to get in touch with B73? Maybe point her toward this message?

Thanks.

Monica, I agree!   Whut? Whut? Whut?

Lydia-- it was an honor to meet you as well, who has done so much for us as a community! I e-mailed B73 with the link to the message. She usually checks her e-mail often.

Thanks for your concern, KittyHawk.  I'm feeling a lot better already.  Funny, tears of sadness and tears of laughter are very close cousins, and both really let you know you are ALIVE!

Oh, that's good to hear, Jack! We've put out an all-points bulletin for B73, so maybe she'll pop up and send you a message soon.

Regards,
