Ok.  I copied everything to  beyondbrokeback.com

It needs some tweaking.

Ug.  Looks like the relative path links are all broken -- like to the style sheet.

Lydia -- just how many places did we publicize the /brokeback/book url?  We're going to need to keep that url around, I suspect...

I'll see about doing a redirect or something.

Yes, we want to keep that web site and maybe just link to it from the other domain or use it as a mirror site. Would that work?

Great

We can just use the redirect for now until we have time to tweak the other.

I"m surprised no one else has taken that domain name already.

I just did a Yahoo search and found this:

I did the same thing on Google today. Our book site finally came up on page 2 of the search results.
We need to use some clever strategies to move up on the search sites.

We've been working with our publisher for almost a year and he has consistently said that they would NOT ship to Europe and we would need to find another way to get our books shipped overseas. This morning desertrat tested the system to see if she could get them to accept an order from Austria.

Well, guess what, friends! **WingSpan Press will now fulfill orders placed from Europe.** Evidently they've had quite a few requests for our books from Europe so they have decided to make an exception to their usual policy of only delivering to North America.

So friends across the pond, there's no delay for you now. Go ahead and order your books without having to wait for another delivery system.

(Heh, heh, heh.  Wink  I'm lovin' this very special treatment we're getting from our publisher. )

I hate to tell you this while our European friends are sleeping, so you all will have to be sure that they find this out first thing in the morning. Maybe some early risers will see this soon... I hope so!

You're a one-man marketing machine, John! Way to go!

Anyone want to start a spreadsheet listing all these good contacts folks are making?

Lydia,

I know one moderator has ordered copies for himself, as well as one for his local library. Is there anything in the pipeline to do a similar project like what we did with getting the DVDs into libraries?

FWIW

I have been involved in making suggestions for marketing the book since December, and have been suggesting since the beginning that our marketing stategy include a statement to purchasers that the forum will use a portion of the profits to donate copies of the book to libraries that wouldn't get it otherwise.  The only comment I received back about using this strategy was that the forum is not a non-profit, it's a business, a sole proprietorship. So, unless members purchase copies themselves to donate, don't expect anything, and you won't be disappointed.

That statement is in the press release.

"The book will be produced initially in limited quantities and proceeds from sales will support the Forum's campaigns of donating free copies of the original film DVD and the new book to public libraries that may not have the resources to buy them. "

Very glad to see that made it through the final draft.
