And what also surprised me was the interest from 20somethings who don't want to live a 'gay life' defined solely by sex acts. Hearing that from a 26 year old NYPD motorcycle  cop was....I can't even describe what it felt like to hear a young gay man say he told people to look at the time J&E spent on the mountain if they wanted to understand what he, as a man and a cop, wanted to find and was willing to give to a partner.

Ok Drop everything...you know of a guy in NYC besides myself that in his 20s and wants true love...  Why am I only finding out about this now...

Kiss ((((Chris))))  Kiss     Those guys are few and far between aren't they?  Sad

Wheatfields...  Don't know where you are, but our publisher IS SHIPPING to EUROPE...  No need to wait for Amazon if you are in North America or Europe.

Nope, I'm in Asia. Won't be back till August next year. Can't wait to read the book.

Chris, if I was about 50 years younger, I'd move back to NYC, just for you!!  Kiss Kiss

Hi there!
It just occurred to me to request some book/business cards so I can put one with each of my bills as I send in payments.

OK doodler-- PM me and send me your address.

I love sending out business cards.  Smiley

choose judiciously.  For example, if you send out a donation to the Sierra Club, you can imagine a person opening it and having time to read the card.

A lot of our bills -- the ones with the bar codes on them-- go straight to an automated processing center at a bank where each item is considered a "widget" of production, and all leisure is squeezed out of the system.  So for those bills, we might just lose our cards.

But I like the direction you're heading.  Wink  send me your address.

She and I have been talking and I've already got a supply in an envelope for her, stamped and addressed. It will go to the post office tomorrow. I thought if she posted her idea here, it might give others the idea to follow suit. I live in a small town and there are a few bills that I pay that are opened by a real human.  Cheesy

Just jumping in here -- one thing I learned while working in public relations for 15 years (this was in my "other life" -- from 1979-1994) was that press releases should not read like a promotional piece or be obviously self-serving -- they should read like a news item.  I would recommend editing out any language in the proposed press releases that sound too "sales-y" or reads like an ad.  As I have been communicated privately to Ellen and Lydia, I believe several versions of the release should be generated, to appeal to reporters who cover not just books, but other "lifestyle issues" -- on-line communities, gay rights, film fans.

Side note...my USPS person, John, has been delivering Brokeback related stuff to me for over a year now...cards from Europe, CD's made by Brokeback friends...and a few days ago, some of the costumes used in the film, as I now have custody of the things Melissa got from ebay.

He watched the film, and really liked it,based on my recommendation, so I let him try on Ennis's corduroy jacket.  He was so thrilled, it was wonderful to see!  This film just GETS to people in the most extraordinary ways!
