I'm on dialup--being in NYC DOES have outer borough drawbacks, especially when it comes to the antiquated internet system which won't even let people get DSL in large parts of the middle class outer regions unless you are willing to change your telephone number and other idiotic things--but wanted to say that the business cards were a fantastic idea. They were snapped up.
\
The book has aroused INTEREST.

What was particularly satisfying was the amount of interest from the gay ladies I met ; they were very very curious about BBM, Heidi and Carol, the entire story, our forum story.  I was told bluntly by more then one gay women that gay women in particular will go crazy for the book, that many ache for non-sensationalist stories about real women who were able to make real changes with LOVE and DECENCY as their guiding force, real women who changed real lives in a positive way. And they were just as interested in the male stories, a few grabbed a computer terminal and looked at the book site---that shows the interest all by itself!

And what also surprised me was the interest from 20somethings who don't want to live a 'gay life' defined solely by sex acts. Hearing that from a 26 year old NYPD motorcycle  cop was....I can't even describe what it felt like to hear a young gay man say he told people to look at the time J&E spent on the mountain if they wanted to understand what he, as a man and a cop, wanted to find and was willing to give to a partner.

It was amazing, really amazing. [to me at least~] I got only 2 noses out of joint---because I wouldn't accept their criticism that BBM wasn't true to life. They felt it didn't show 'real sex'---I said it didn't have to, it showed LOVE, real love and sex without love was porn. Both guys also felt BBM was NOT emotionally plausible; and I defended it's plausibility quite well, if I say so myself.

Anyway, debating two aging  fashionistas [ I REALLY wished I could unleash DCF member 'jack' on them roflmao]  is what got the girls interest aroused. The lesbian ladies who heard it were really really interested. The two guys I mentioned well, BBM was 'last year' and it was pretty funny when less shallow men who heard the exchange also took them on.

Our book has tapped a deep need among ordinary gay people.  Least that's what I think.  I'm going back on Monday morning; there were questions about contacting people involved with the book, it's genesis, etc which were so detailed I couldn't answer them at the time: the response was THAT surprising and THAT specific!

Truly, we have created something which can make a difference in people's lives.

Who'd a thunk it

Back home in Denver Tuesday, won't be online much as it's too frustrating, takes forever.

we could use some good reviews for our book at amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Brokeback-Members-Ultimate-Forum/dp/1595941223/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-5904133-1423032?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1178310941&sr=8-1

(it's for sale there, but we don't want to push that yet. we get a much better return directly from the publisher.) but we can start the reviews going. there's a time lag on them.

I don't mean to be blunt, but shouldn't I read it before reviewing it?

Hi John John --

I think that is what Dave means -- he is thinking ahead  Smiley

Also -- Brokeback_1,  if those computer terminals at the gay centers can access our pdf flyer, it would be nice to post on their bulletin board

I had to smile,John John, at the question about reading the book before reviewing it!   Wink  Perhaps you caught us going overboard about promoting our book, but yes, I hope anyone reviewing it will read it first!  Cheesy Grin Cheesy

Rodney, I hope you get it before you leave for Denver, too! They start shipping from California tomorrow.

Well, how about those of us who helped edit the book. We've "read" it!   Cheesy

That's true, Jackie! There aren't many people who have read every little bit of the whole thing, but there are at least a dozen editors who have read (and re-read and re-read  Wink) a good portion of it!

I'll need to buy from Amazon because I'll be outside of the US for sometime. That should help boost its sales ranking at Amazon Grin
