One of the members is also going to help me get an article about the book published in 'Between The Lines', the Detroit gay newspaper.  I could use some help on this. I'm not a very good writer.

John, I'd be willing to help you out with this. Drop me a PM and let me know what you need.

Ennis, admit it,you're falling in love.

Since I live in a mostly French speaking city its a bit of a problem to promote our book. A lot of people here speak English but don't necessarely read in English. I've written a short introduction to explain who we are in French. I've included the link to the book site, I plan to send it first to our only GLBT bookstore and then to various local associations and support groups.

You never know, maybe I can sell a few copies....

That's a terrific idea, Jean.

Maybe some of our other multilingual members can do the same in other languages. If any of you want to use any of the text on the book web site for your translation, you're welcome to, of course.

The most important thing, when you're spreading the word about the book or book-related issues, is to always link your readers directly to our book page:   http://www.davecullen.com/brokeback/book/  Doing that helps move us nearer the top of Google. If you try searching for Beyond Brokeback,  you'll see there are quite a few other "Beyond Brokeback" links that we need to move ahead of.

That's what I've done Kitty.

I'm also trying to find English speaking people who may be interested.

I sent an E-Mail to Thomas Waugh, an author and professor of Film Studies at Concordia University.

Here's what he replied:

Very interesting! I just heard a whole round table on BBM at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies in Chicago, so your email is quite a coincidence. Looking forward to the book.

So we don't have to have an "academic" book to get film studies professors interested. Hmmmm. That's really good to know!

Thanks, Jean!

Morning All --

Just a heads up that I've switched out the illustrations page on the book website -- the next batch of 3 illustrations are now available.

Hi guys,
A faculty member of Norwich Univ. in Vermont has invited me to read from the book to a group sometime in late April.  Actual date and venue are still to be determined.  Maybe it'll help promote the book.

Paul

Oh, Paul, that is so exciting.  I so wish I could be there to listen to you.

Well -- IMO it would make a perfect Oprah show.  Some of our authors may be willing to tell their stories on the air.

Thank you for using the press release.  I think it is a great idea for people to make use of the press release as often as possible when contacting organizations about the book, because it was carefully generated by the marketing team and approved by Dave.

In the past, Dave has always wanted to know about when we contact famous people (I think Oprah qualifies).  I know this was only a web form -- but I want to make sure we give our very best shot when we go for something big, like a spot on Oprah.

So thank you, John, for using the press release, and thank you for letting us know.

PS -- anybody who wants a quick link to the press release can always click on my sig line!

I did have to delete a few sentences from the release because the web form would only accept 2000 characters.
Other than that i didn't change anything.

You guys, I am so impressed with the marketing ideas you have come up with and jumped right into. We were kind of dreading this part, I think (at least I was), but it seems to have taken on a momentum of its own. Now I'm looking forward even more than before to the Memorial Day weekend gathering in Colorado and getting to know some of you personally.

Jackie, please say you're going to be there....

Oh, Jim Jonathan, I was so excited to see you post and with a picture yet...and then to have you ask after me?  Darling, I am doing everything in my power to be there.  I will know by the end of the week and will post it.  Thank you, dear one.  Kiss
