Come on, Ennis, you just shot my airplane out a the sky - give me something a go on.

and he gave him the wings.

Cry

Jack gave Ennis the wings?  Or Ennis gave wings to Jack?

this is a confusing quote, it can be interpreted differently, it took me a few months to come to an understanding of it.

Some think Jack means a good thing, like "launch" the airplane up like a rocket, but it could mean shot out of the sky, like shot down.

Again,   Cry

^^^^^^^^^^

I always understood it as shot down, out of the sky.

hmmm...

my favorite line is:

the metal smell of coming snow.

Cheesy

i also love the line about dawn coming glassy orange, and how it was stained by a gelatinous band of green from below,,,,,,, as i have smelled and seen both in the mountains of colorado.

i don't have the book handy though,. so i might be confused.

krummholz and split rock a bestial drone also floats my boat, lol.

^^^^^ Beautiful.

I'm certain that this has been said before but my actual favorite quote from Brokeback Mountain is all the words in the story.

Does "Love is a force of nature" count? It's on both my movie posters (gotta love huge posters of gay cowboys, especially when my step-dad sees them and blushes) and it pretty much is for both the book and movie. No one said it (not that I can remember) but it's my favorite and means a lot.

The first real show of tenderness spoken out loud...."What in the hell happened Ennis? " asked by Jack to Ennis. Then tries to bathe his cut head.

Jack to Ennis "Thats more words than you spoke in the past two weeks " Ennis' reply " Hell.....thats the most I spoke in a year "

Just two on many lines that I love.

"Twist, you guys wasn't gettin' paid to leave the dogs babysittin' the sheep while you stem the rose."
I think that's exactly what they were getting paid for! What else do you pay cute cowboys for? *lol*

Ennis : That harmonica don't sound  quite right either.

Jack: It got kinda flattened  when the mare threw me.

Ennis. Thought you said that mare couldn't throw you?

Jack: Aww! she got lucky

Ennis: Yeah, well if I got lucky...that harmonica woulda broken in two !!

LOL  Cheesy

A nice thing about "She got lucky" is how well it's spoken.  The tone of voide and rising intonation.

On the DVD (probably) i saw another version of that scene and Jake says the line differently, and it's not nearly as good as what's in the ffilm.

"Jack, I swear –" he said, though Jack had never asked him to swear anything and was himself not the swearing kind.
