My favourite quotes are from the book:

When Jack and Ennis meet again in 1967, after 'jouncing a bed' in the motel, Jack tells about the injuries he sustained during rodeoing. Then Ennis says: 'Sure as hell seem in one piece to me'.

Not really a favorite, because theyt always make me very sad, are the last words of the intro:
''it might stoke the day, rewarm that old, cold time on the mountain when they owned the world and nothing seemed wrong."

hi there! i am ali, 19, and i am new here.

i have loved this movie because it is somewhat very similar to my unusual story.

anyway, my best quote is:

Jack: (sigh) I wish I knew how to quit you.

Ennis: (sniff) Then why don't you?... Why don't you just let me be, huh?...

just so dramatic that i was so depressed for weeks thinking about this Ennis-Jack tandem!

Hi, Ali, and welcome. I remember that I thought my stomach would drop out when Jack said, "I wish I knew how to quit you!"  Such a terrible scene.

You'll find we all relate to the story and film in our own individual ways. Please stay around and see what the forum has to offer.

One of my favorite lines and scenes iin the film and book, even though it shouldn't be as it shows Ennis's violent streak is always simmering just under the surface is 'I'll make him eat the f- - -ing floor, and you too!( The kitchen scene after Thanks giving) Ledgers delivery and reaction was so brilliant I thought he was going to hit 'Alma for real.   I almost ,only almost felt sorry for her!!!!

Just been browsing through the BBM short story again and when this thread asks for favorite qoutes I forgot these few lines that send tingles down my spine. Here goes;  ''His shaking hand grazed Ennis's hand, electrical current snapped between them''.   Can you just imagin the self control not to just jump  one anothers bones there and then?

That must be one of the most erotic passages ever written, I think.

And so sad that that and the "undoing buttons" weren't in the film.

"Too early in the summer to be sick of beans" - that's probably the only line in the film that makes me smile, that's why I love it, even though it is not that important to the story.

Yes Cally and Tellyouwhat, I think there were lots of little scenes like "cold hands " and "buttons" that could have been in the film with out taking it to its ultimate conclusion so as not too offend the straight laced  and asking "Is it really relevant to the story line?!!"  ME??  I could watch Ennis and Jack bonk one another's brains out till they couldn't see straight in every scene and still shout  "MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!!

There are so many quotes that I love from the SS and the Film....but the one that really brings a lump to my throat is when Jack says to Ennis in the film" I'll tell you what.....the truth is....sometimes I miss you so much..I can't hardly stand it".It's the hitch in his voice and like he has had to take a deep breath to get the words out..but while he is saying it , he never looks at Ennis. He is in a place of his own .

This is the same for me Suely. Still creates the lump, still represents the hopelessness.
