I found this Post-Oscar Tribute to BBM. Done by a member of this board perhaps? I don't know. I think everyone who watches it will appreciate and enjoy, even be moved by it.

Yep, that's one of our members.  He first announced and linked to it in our "BBM Support Group" thread.

Anyone have an opinion on this?

Should we email the pic and press release to radio stations??

There are 4 major radio stations here in NYC (Z100, 95.5 WPLJ, 103.5 WKTU, & 102.7 WNEW) and each has a "morning show" where celebrity news and gossip are discussed.

Should we target radio stations, or do you think that since these are "morning shows" where laughs are sometime gone for, we should skip the risk of this movement being ridiculed??

My personal opinion is that "information" is always good.  Let the chips fall where they may, but getting the word out is always a step in the right direction.

Agree!

OK, I'll wait to see if I get a few more responses, but general concenses seems to be to send those emails.

I'll send them out by noon, if majority thinks it's a good idea.  The shows go until 10am, and I don't want to send it now, and have it get discussed, while I'm at work, and can't hear if it made the air.

Thank you all forthe hard work getting this out for this Friday.

I sent the press release to the following:

Courier News
Star Ledger
Jersey Journal
Asbury Park Press
Daily Record
Village Voice

I think we need to make sure we list the city/state with our lists.  It's not easy to tell where these are.

Hey guys, first post here but have never seen anything like this before.  Quite gobsmakced.  Can't sit on the sideline anymore.

PLEASE one suggestion: the URL from the press release pops through to an entire thread (not just the ad) and STILL has the typo in it (Gustavo Santaolalla's - if I followed the comments of those in the know correctly).  This undermines all the hard work done by all these amazing folk and simply is not professional.  Nor fair to one of the Oscar winners.  Chances are that the media the release is being circulated to may want to show the ad, so it needs to be correct.

may i humbly suggest that the URL kicks through to a page that just has the ad visual, not the work-in-progress stuff or the thread?  Make it easy for the media to use.

I will try to circulate to the media in South Africa (where I'm from).  BBM permieres here tomorrow nite (Friday), so it is bound to generate a stir.  I have seen it elsewhere though, been tough not able to talk to friends about it here!  The board has been a joy to find.

What an extraordinary event in a world filled with war and other horrors, just shows how much we all need something positive in our lives, even if that comes in a Heavy Trauma Package such as BBM.

The Borders in the South End (not to be confused with South Boston) has it:

Borders Books & Music
10 School St.
Boston, MA 02108
(617) 557-7188

The one in Chestnut Hill does not...

yeah I wondered why the link to the ad was in the middle of a thread.  didn't make sense to me but I'm sure it was a late night.

What about WLIB -- Air America (liberal/progressive talk radio)?  101.something on the AM dial -- nationally syndicated.  I will e-mail them.

Are we ordering copies of Variety through the forum, or does anyone know how to get one locally?  (Houston area)

NO, we cannot order Variety through this forum.  Unfortunately, we are on our own with that one.  I just spoke to an operator at the Daily Variety Circulation desk (1-800-552-3632).  One may not order in advance and it may be a week later before they know if and how many leftover copies are available for later purchase.  When I spoke to this person, she gave the addresses of places in my area where a copy may be purchased.  The operator stated that she had already gotten calls about the issue because of the ad.

Arggghh...just went through the same thing - and no one in my area carries it (Big surprise there - not)  Anyone out there with a Paypal account willing to pick me up 5 copies?  I'll obviously pay for the shipping and your time for this.  If there is a kind soul out there - just PM me - I'd be eternally greatful.

Rob - annoyed with Chapters now!
