i've sent the press release to:

toronto star
toronto sun
globe and mail

that should pretty much cover central canada's large distribution papers in english language.

another thought, toronto and vancouver have chinese (and other) language papers with huge circulation...they might be eager to pick up on this because of the ang lee connection...could someone who speaks cantonese/mandarin (or other languages) follow up on this one?

I've started a database of distribution of the press releases.  If you think it worthwhile, I'd be happy to keep it up today as you report and then re-post periodically

Atlanta-Journal Constitution
Atlantic City Press
Courier-Post
Current
Drudge Report
ennisjack.com
Guardian Film
Guardian Unlimited
Jacksonville FL Sun-Times Union
Lawrence Journal World, Lawrence, KS
Mainland Journal
Miami Herald
Nashville Tennessean
Observer Film
Philadelphia Gay News
Philadelphia Inquirer
Phoenix New Times, Phoenix, AZ
Sentinel Ledger
The Indy Weekly, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, NC
WMGM Channel 40 (Atlantic City)

Only my third post to the forum, but I just sent the press release to the Dallas Morning News.  To both its movie critics, each of whom selected Brokeback Mountain for best picture.

Excellent, CactusGal.  Its good to see a list of the area we've covered.  It will likely grow to be a long list.  Thank you.  Smiley

I found this Post-Oscar Tribute to BBM. Done by a member of this board perhaps? I don't know. I think everyone who watches it will appreciate and enjoy, even be moved by it.

Are we ordering copies of Variety through the forum, or does anyone know how to get one locally?  (Houston area)

This has been absolutely amazing to watch....

Good idea, CactusGal. You can add the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO).

Anyone have an opinion on this?

Should we email the pic and press release to radio stations??

There are 4 major radio stations here in NYC (Z100, 95.5 WPLJ, 103.5 WKTU, & 102.7 WNEW) and each has a "morning show" where celebrity news and gossip are discussed.

Should we target radio stations, or do you think that since these are "morning shows" where laughs are sometime gone for, we should skip the risk of this movement being ridiculed??

NO, we cannot order Variety through this forum.  Unfortunately, we are on our own with that one.  I just spoke to an operator at the Daily Variety Circulation desk (1-800-552-3632).  One may not order in advance and it may be a week later before they know if and how many leftover copies are available for later purchase.  When I spoke to this person, she gave the addresses of places in my area where a copy may be purchased.  The operator stated that she had already gotten calls about the issue because of the ad.

My personal opinion is that "information" is always good.  Let the chips fall where they may, but getting the word out is always a step in the right direction.

OK -- Updated.   Decided to start showing them by sort:  Country or state or "natl" or web so we have a better idea where we are covering.  Please add one of those categories when you post or I'll have to guess and that might not be pretty!  Whoever posted the ones from from the Atlantic City area -- are those in NJ?

I have sent the press release to Ty Burr at the Boston Globe and to the editor of Bay Windows, New England's largest gay newspaper.

BTW we have been "infiltrated" if you go to the Oscar aftermath thread. I guess that is to be expected as word of this forum gets out. I choose to ignore the person(s) and let the moderators deal, but just more evidence of why it is so important not to let this issue die.
