Val, Gazdu, humble-mom - it's all set isn't it? Assuming this post that's been all over the board is correct, all you have to do is phone Variety and give them $6.95 on a credit card. (I asked when I called and they do not take single issue orders on-line - you have to call on the phone.)

Our ad will be printed in the March 10 edition of Daily Variety.

To order:

Call the circulation desk and tell them you want to pre-order the March 10 issue of DAILY Variety. The cost is $6.95 (including shipping and handling) for Daily Variety. Priority shipping is available for an additional charge. You will need to specify the exact date of the issue when ordering -- the operators cannot search for the proper issue. To order, please call circulation. For Daily Variety: (800) 552-3632. International subscribers should call 1-515-247-2993.

It's easy!

Just spoken to a very nice lady in circulation who initially stated that they don't take pre-orders and you would have to call two days after the publication date you wanted so that it was a back issue. When I explained why I was calling (from the UK) and that there maybe many more "because of the ad" she put me on hold to check out if pre-ordering was possible for this issue! She discussed with her colleague and they will take pre-orders on a first come first serve basis, so no guarantees although if may be ok if the print run in increased!

I just talked to the circulation desk and they can NOT take pre-orders.  She said to call monday to try and get a back issue, and it's not certain they will have back issues of each issue.

I just called back and was able to pre-order 2 copies of Daily Variety for March 10th issue.  Apparently it depends on the operator you get so be insistent and tell them you know other people who have ordered this issue.

All apologies as I asked about this previously but can't find any responses but...
Is there a way to donate by sending a check?

Eric,
I will gladly make a paypal donation on your behalf if you want.
You could then mail me a check.
If you want to pursue, post your email address or phone number and I shall call or email you.

Recommend you do this via PM (messages on upper left hand side of the screen) rather than post an email or phone number here since it is widely viewable

I just called Variety and the customer service rep put me on hold because she and her supervisor were just having a discussion about whether or not to take pre-orders.  She came back and said because of the tremendous interest in this issue, they don't know how much inventory/stock they'll have of it, and so can't take pre-orders at this time.  I told her there were a lot of us who are upset that Brokeback didn't win best picture, and the content had to do with that, and she said there were a lot of people feeling that way, and that she herself had turned off the TV in disgust because BBM wasn't getting the recognition it deserved Kiss.  She said to call back tomorrow, and they  may know more about their stock. She was able to locate the closest store that carried it.  The number again is-- Daily Variety: (800) 552-3632.

I've read a bit back up the page....I don't understand why Variety CS gives different answers to people trying to order...the gal I spoke with had no problem with the order and said after it was "published" it would be shipped and arrive in 3-5 days (from Cal.)

I have also just ordered 2 copies to be shipped to Canada, so it is possible to pre-order. The lady on the phone (very nice by the way) told me they were getting A LOT of phone calls for tomorrow's "Brokeback ad edition" so they have already decided to print extra numbers. She said she would certainly buy a copy for herself. THIS IS GREAT!!

Funny...I was told that since I called early and was one of the first orders it would not be a problem. I was also told that since this issue would be popular they would be printing extra copies. So why the different answers?

Just ordered two copies. No problem.  Operator guessed the issue I was calling for.  Won't ship 'til next week.  Operator said First Come First Served.

Interesting! They took my order a few minutes earlier. They said it was unusual to get requests before the issue was out, but they would send it when they received it in about ten days.

Maybe they realized they're getting a lot of calls about it and have changed policy to handle the larger number of requests?

I had to call 3 times before I finally got someone to take my order.  The first one gave me the address of one Borders in Tulsa, OK who is supposed to sell Variety so I'm going to check it out.  If I can get it here, I'm going to since it's not certain we can get any through the CS.

just a  suggestion, I am not sure if "two people who don't even exist" really works.  It goes without saying that these two characters are fictional, I think it's more powerful to do w/o.
