What I can do from my little corner of the world -

Press release sent to:

Atlanta-Journal Constitution
Nashville Tennessean
Miami Herald
Jacksonville Florida Sun-Times Union

These papers were chosen for the likelihood of coverage/interest. This is the South, after all.

Please re-post the Variety contacts and info to order our copies. It is so difficult searching each page. Is the press release done? thanks. I have two job interviews today so time is critical. Could you link back to the press release page?

Ned is still working on the ad.

The folks at Variety got a sneek peek of an almost finished ad and really loved it. They have also given us great placement on a right page. Very nice.

OK - posting this blind - still 30+ pages behind - but if Variety is being this helpful - we should definately be mentioning this somewhere (even though it may not sound correct).  I think it's always a good idea to give Kudos when they're deserved!

  Rob

I don't think so since they need to be neutral. maybe i'm wrong.

Agree with Pug, but am wondering, and I know Pete's gone, where the ad is running, close to the front? And how big is it??

Great work!  I faxed the press release this morning to some major media in the South Jersey Shore area: Philadelphia Inquirer; Courier-Post; Atlantic City Press; Philadelphia Gay News (also sent via email with the ad); and, WMGM Channel 40 (Atlantic City). It also went to small local papers: Current; Mainland Journal; Sentinel Ledger.  I gotta go to work, but I’m hoping that anyone in the Philadelphia area can get the fax numbers for the local TV stations and send it to them.  I hope everyone, everywhere, sends the press release to their local media.

Again, many, many thanks to everyone.

As I work for them have emailed to:

The editors of Guardian Unlimited (The Guardian's online site), Guardian Film and Observer Film newspapers

All UK but left leaning/liberal so hopefully sympathetic!

Love the ad and am immensely proud to have played a small part (made a donation earlier) in an historic but heartfelt response.

I hope this isn't a dumb question.  May we circulate the Press Release with the ad now, or should the Press release wait until Friday, the day the ad airs?

I just want to follow the protocol you would like.  Smiley

God bless.  God has.

The press release can be circulated at this point. The ad needs a quick fix on Gus' name (that is what I get for proofreading so late in the night).
PLEASE link back to the press release!!!!!

Doesn't even have to be public - When this is all over - the 'contact' people could (and I think should) ask to speak with the Supe of whoever was helping them.

Giving Kudos where it's deserved is never a bad thing.  Variety is providing us a service - and if they provide exceptional service that should be rewarded - even if it is done in private

Looks beautiful!  Thank you again for all of your hard work and for making it so easy to copy and paste the press release with the link to the ad.  I hate to ask this again, and it's probably here somewhere but I can't keep up; can you let me know how I might get a copy of Variety in this tiny town in northwest Illinois?  I haven't lived here long enough to know any stores that might carry the paper.  Thanks, Lydia

it would be nice if there was an acknowledgement in the "note from the publisher" (if there is one) in the front of the magazine.

glad to hear ned's still working on the ad, and a right hand placement is great!! hopefully it will be placed next to an article about brokeback, or the awards shows, or even an article about CRASH.

Haven't had the chance to read all the posts on this thread.  But the ad looks great.
I'm in Australia, not sure if Variety is available here.  But what size will the ad be?
And what size is the whole magazine/newspaper?  Maybe someone can take a picture of the
ad when it hits the streets so those of us OS who are unable to get a copy straight away can
actually see the real thing?  Thanks   Grin

Great job, everyone!

Just posted the press release on ennisjack.com. They have over 1,900 members world wide. It might be good to get an idea  for the media of the number of other websites and forums that are devoted to Brokeback -we're approaching Trekkie proportions -what are we Brokkie's ?

Keep up all the good work
