Assuming all the area theaters don't get washed away with this damned flooding from Debby, I'll be there!

If you miss it, Magic Mark, well, it's coming to Broadway!

Broadway-Aimed Magic Mike Will Be a Musical; Steven Soderbergh, Channing Tatum Attached
by Michael Gioia and Kenneth Jones
29 Jun 2012

LOL! -- Steven Soberbergh and Channing Tatum are attached!  I don't think I'd mind
being attached to Channing...

Quote
Steven Soderbergh and Channing Tatum, director and star, respectively, of the new movie "Magic Mike"—about the lifestyle of male strippers — will produce the musical adaptation of the film, which is scheduled to hit Broadway next year.

Theatre agent John Buzzetti of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment is also attached to the project, which will have a book by Reid Carolin, who also penned the movie's screenplay. Soderbergh and Tatum will produce Magic Mike: The Musical with partners Gregory Jacobs, Nick Wechsler and Carolin.

The Warner Bros. film hits movie theatres June 29 and is inspired by events in Tatum's life. The film includes choreographed striptease acts and exotic dancers dressed as police men—ŕ la The Full Monty—as well as an opening number set to The Weather Girls' "It's Raining Men." The story follows a 19-year-old slacker (Alex Pettyfer), who meets Magic Mike (Tatum) and is introduced to the world of stripping, picking up girls and extreme partying.

No official announcement has been made about a Broadway adaptation, but co-star Adam Rodriguez told USA Today that the possibility has been discussed since production began on the picture.

Could this be a trend, turning old TV sitcoms into musicals?

The supply is virtually endless. I can see I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched. ...

M*A*S*H I see more as an opera. ...

Don't think I've seen anything of his. I mean REALLY know him, rather than know OF him.

"Know him" in the Biblical sense?

This post should really for the TV thread but since I've got the warning message appeared on my screen says 'are you sure you wanna post for the thread for not moving more than a year etc...'  and Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike movie has been mentioned here, I'll post this here, so pardon me!   Evil

Behind the Candelabra (2013)
TV Movie  -  Biography | Drama

>The life of celebrated pianist Liberace.

Director: Steven Soderbergh
Writer: Richard LaGravenese (screenplay)
Stars: Matt Damon, Michael Douglas and Rob Lowe>

from IMDB Page; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1291580/

>MATT DAMON & MICHAEL DOUGLAS
We're Taking Over
Casa von Ahole

>Prince von Ahole is about to get some incredibly famous house guests -- TMZ has learned he's renting out his Bel Air mansion for a movie starring Matt Damon and Michael Douglas.

Sources close to the Prince tell us ... Ahole and his wife Zsa Zsa Gabor struck a deal with the people behind Steven Soderbergh's upcoming project, "Behind the Candelabra" ... an HBO film about Liberace.

The film stars Douglas and Damon -- and we're told producers plan on shooting inside von Ahole's pad for at least 23 days.

Sources tell us Prince will rake in somewhere in the ballpark of $70k from the deal ... which is HUUUUGE because Ahole needs the money.

We broke the story ... Prince took a $1.5 million personal loan to pay off his mortgage in the face of foreclosure ... but he only has 11 months to repay the loan.

$70k ain't a bad start ... only $1.43 million to go!

Soooooh, this project is really happening, yay! I just now want to know when I can watch this!!!?!   Grin

I'm intrigued by Lee Daniel's (Precious) The Paperboy, a film which received mixed-to-negative reviews at Cannes. I'm trying to make it through the novel upon which it's based, but it's not well-written and is boring and don't know if I'll have finished it before the movie comes out (half-way though, I'm considering putting it down, although I know from movie reviews that the interesting stuff is going to happen in the end).

The trailer does look kind of interesting:
