Every alternate take from the SNIT!  (I know it's been said that it's unlikely to happen, but since this is my wish list, I'm putting it down anyway.  I can dream, can't I?)

For comparison, Sense and Sensibility has two commentaries: one by Ang and James Schamus, and one by Emma Thompson.

I'm not giving up hope: the Spartacus commentaries were added to a new DVD version years later.  'bout 30 years later, I think.

Let's hope we don't have to wait that long!

Why me ?

« Reply #78 on: September 18, 2006, 03:38:28 PM »

OK, I hope this is the right place to post this.....

I am very very very VERY disapointed   Angry

For MONTHS I've been waiting for the BBM DVD. It is finally in my hands. I could only watch the youtube clips so far.
Today I had the chance to watch the whole movie again.
Is there ANY greek on this forum who can help me here? WHO is responsible for the DVD that we have?
The DVD stores? The ones who sold it in greece? The mare of Athens? The prime minister?
Is it only the Greek version that sucks, or is it everywhere like this?

First, there is no extra scenes, which I knew, so I am not surprized by this.
Where are the interviews? The actor's comments? Ang's comments? Anything at all?

WHERE ARE ALL THE SUBTITLES? ? ? ? In ALL DVDs, I used to get subtitles in almost every language.
BBM DVD has ONLY the greek subtitles! Not even the English ones!! Not even the subtitles for the deaf! How can such thing be possible?
Why did we get such a poor DVD? What sins are we paying?

Oh, and the greek subtitles? Translation simply SUCKS!! I couln't believe what I was reading!
I waited all these months for THIS?  Angry  Who translated it? I bet it was someone who was just so bored of his/her job...

It is not out for sale yet. I wonder, when it comes for sale, will it be the same?

So, please, anyone from anyother country that owns the DVD... are there only your own country's subtitles?
Are there no interviews by the actors or anybody else?
Are there only 3 options on the DVD? Play, subtitles and Scenes selection?
Please please inform me...   Undecided

Hi zth,

as far as i know there is no  extra scenes section  Angry.  As for the interviews i  know that in my BBM DVD, bought from amazon there is the "On being a cowboy", "Directing from the heart:AL", "From script to screen:interviews with Larry McMurty & Diana Ossana" and at the end there is the "Sharing the story: the making of BBM" included.  That is all. If you need more info feel free to pm me.  Smiley

I have to believe, with the level of passion for this film, an upgraded DVD package will be forthcoming.

It's been done in France this summer, why not here in America I don't know. Maybe for Christmas?

I'm just dying for a DVD with more interviews, and, especially, deleted scenes. I need to see the deleted scenes! I'm not buying any BBM DVD until I can have them.

Not having my own copy of the movie is tough at times. When I checked it out from the library I watched it twice in two days and would have watched it more if I had the time.

zth -- furthermore -- from what I have read on our threads, many of  the translations in other languages have been poor.  I think the French vs. the German translations contradict on at least one key line.  It is eye-opening to those of us who usually don't pay attention to every nuance in a film to learn that there is actually very little coordination between the efforts of the various countries to get any kind of agreement even in the interpretations.  They really are just putting out a product for sale.

I've been gone from this forum for months...  but I didn't see it anywhere else by searching, and thought I should announce it...

***2-DISK "COLLECTOR'S EDITION" OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED FOR JAN '07 RELEASE***

We have absolutely no idea what's on it, but it's absolutely official now...

The link is very sparse at the moment.  Nothing about
extra video content, but it comes with collector postcards.
I wish they would be replicas of the ones in the film, but I'm
thinking they're probably more in line with the ones they did for
promotion last spring, with the cast on them and such.

Both types would be nice!  Not either/or I mean.

Our appetites are whetted, that's fer sure!

Yep, both simultaneously would be an excellent thing!
