Here's what I know, based on descriptions and pics.

When they're riding in the truck, they're on their way to the jump-off.

There's a long scene of rescuing hippies whose car -- a VW van, I think -- got stuck in the creek.  I believe it took days to film.

Ennis visits Jack's grave.

You also see the mechanics in the trailer, so something must have been filmed, but I've never heard it discussed.

And there's the trailer's shot of Jack on the log over the creek.  People have said it must be a double because Jake didn't have quite those muscles.  Beyond that, I haven't heard that shot discussed.

I've noticed in the trailers i've seen that there is a line spoken as they are walking to the bar, "Since we're going to be working together we might as well start drinking together." (something like that)  Is it me or is that only in the trailer, because nowhere is that line uttered in my dvd.

I'd like an optional commentary track, the deleted scenes and outtakes. Oh the outtakes would be priceless!

Well, with the Bravo showing, with some different angles .......it does make me wonder about what other shots could be out there.

It's only in the trailer.  And the music in the trailer isn't in the movie either.

Finding Brokeback has a whole section on the deleted scenes.

I have read that it is common to use music from other films in
the trailers for new films.  Many times, the original movie score
isn't done yet, but sometimes they do it because audiences know
and like the music they're hearing and they hope it will transfer to
wanting to see the film.

For example, I recently watched the trailer for the film THE NOTEBOOK
on dvd and the music they used in the trailer was from the film PLEASANTVILLE.

Hey there... been a while since I've been on the forum, but I just read the news about the Blu-Ray release, and it doesn't look like it's been posted here yet:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Gay_&_Lesbian/Universal/Disc_Announcements/Universal_Announces_Brokeback_Mountain_for_Blu-ray/2412

From the post:
Universal Studios has announced an early-March Blu-ray debut for the Oscar-winning 'Brokeback Mountain.'
Originally released on HD DVD in early 2007, Universal will play catch up with the highly-acclaimed drama when it releases the Heath Ledger-Jake Gyllenhaal starrer on Blu-ray March 3.

Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/VC-1 video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround.
Extras will match the previous HD DVD and DVD special editions, with a wealth of making-of featurettes: "A Groundbreaking Success," "Music From the Mountain," "Impressions From the Film," "On Being a Cowboy," "Directing From the Heart: Ang Lee," "From Script to Screen" and "Sharing the Story: The Making of Brokeback Mountain."
The Blu-ray will also come BD-Live-enabled, and with the My Scenes bookmarking feature.
Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.99.

* * *
So... that's some great news, especially for us Blu-Ray devotees.  The BD-Live capability will enable folks to watch the movie together in remote locations and add text commentary, stuff like that.

Hey there Brokeback Nation!  I just watched the movie on Blu-ray last night and I can't even begin to say how totally awesome it was when compared to the crappy DVD that I finally sent back to Netflix.

(FYI, I am a heterosexual female who just saw the movie for the first time 17 days ago and am completely obsessed!)

The sound was so amazingly better than the DVD.  Ooooh, you can hear all the kissy sounds in SNIT- just delicious!  And, the scenes seem far more illuminated than they were on the DVD.  You can see way more of the details in their faces, the tent, etc.

For example: Ennis definitely makes a lot of eye contact with Jack during SNIT.  Previously, I thought he kept his eyes completely closed!

And, during FNIT, after Jack pounds the ground three times, he is seen grasping Ennis' right hand frantically.  I never noticed that on the DVD either.  What's up with that?  Wouldn't he fall over?  Strong knees and thighs, I guess Grin.  Aughh!  So hot!

OK, back to work everyone!  (Oh, and I swear I watched more than just those 2 scenes! Evil)

OK, donna, I want you to check out one scene, namely the one where Jack bloodies Ennis' nose during their fight, and tell me what Jack says to Ennis when he's trying to comfort him. Some people here swear up and down that he utters an endearment that I cannot in a million years believe that Ang Lee would ever have allowed to pass Jack/Jake's lips. I'm hoping that since you haven't been in on the argument that you might hear that line more objectively.

BTW, I like this new term "Brokeback Nation" -- sounds more dignified than "Brokies" Grin (I am a former denizen of Red Sox Nation as well).

I wish I had blu-ray Sad the soundtrack on the movie in my opinion is not good - about the only criticism I have about it. At first I though it was just my "English ear" not picking up the US dialect, but I have compared notes with many others who agree with me that the soundtrack is not all it could be.  The music track is fine just the the dialogue track is a little woolly sometimes.  Donna, I'll be interested to hear what you post in response to Chapeugris's challenge Wink

Hold onto your hats Brokeback Nation!  I have the answer to chapeaugris' question!  And does Jack say a lot?  -You bet!  -probably way more than you previously thought.  Get your credit cards out because I will warn you that my post will send you scurrying off to Best Buy for electronics equipment and the Blu- ray version!

In the "Fight Scene,"  according to my ears, and the ears of everyone in my family, just after Ennis' nose gets smashed, ("crunch") Jack says:

(whisper) "Ennis?"

(louder) "Ennis... Ennis... Ennis... En... Ennis.  Come 'ere lil' squaah.  You OK?  You OK?"

Ennis is grunting throughout.

Jack says, "Shhh... shhh..."

Ennis bitch-slaps him.

Ta da!

Damn, I wish he said "lil' sweetie," or something like that, but he definitely didn't (sorry).  But he definitely said something that sounded like an endearment.  OK, everyone go out and buy the Blu-ray player and disk so you can help me figure out what "lil' squaah"  is supposed to be.  It definitely sounds like either "squall"  or "squaw."  All the letters are distinctly pronounced by Gyllenhaal.  There is no way that it could be "let's go" or anything else like that.  Each sound is distinct- l - i - l  s - k - w - a - h.

HELP!!!!
