I'm thinking about making it into a poster, but I need to straighten out the lines if I do that. I really had fun making it tho.

that would be great, like taking it to kinko's and having it enlarged..  it would look cool also with just one can, like andy used to do.  is that the BBQ can or the can from the movie? i can't tell at that size.

that photo montage of the dozy embrace you posted would also look very cool as a poster,,, do you have a program that scans photos and then assembles the image for you? it seems like it needs a few more images to pull from, to increase the number of different values used to create shading. maybe you can enrich the photo pool with photos of sheep. Cheesy that might be an easy way to offer the program more selections.

damn, sure wish i had more time at the bbq, it would have been fun to sit down with you and pat and other bbm fan artists to chat about these things!

That is the BBQ can.  The colors were better to work with and I couldn't find a good cap of the movie can.  The 100 cans theme was a direct rip of one of Warhol's posters.  But one can might be interesting too.  I would have to look into doing it as a poster.  It started out as something personal for me, but I can see how other people might want something like it too.

The photo montage is done with a program specifically for that.  It actually used a pool of 1600 images (there are 1300 in that picture) to make the image using repeats (too many dark images to do no repeats)  But It would be a little lighter with more sheep.

Hi Michele,
If you are going to get prices on transferring the 100 cans of beans to a poster, you should check out:

www.photofiddle.com.

They have many options as far as sizes and mediums.  They did the canvas transfer of Ennis clutching the shirt that I brought to the BBQ.  It cost about $50, unstretched.  Transfers to paper are cheaper.

aahh, i thought that was my can!  i'm glad to see it being put to use... other than a paperweight! Grin

that's interesting about the photo montage program,,,, wow, 1300 pics of BBM. amazing!

PAT -- that's a very reasonable price for that print! i take it they don't have a problem printing copyright images, that's cool.

Hi Jimmy,
No, I just uploaded the image, and they printed it.  That image was a really low resolution, and I got an error message telling me so on their site, but went ahead and did it anyway.  That was actually the first "art" thing I did, way back in March, long before I discovered where to find high resolution screencaps and what I could do with photoshop.  That image was taken from an icon I think, but it still transferred pretty well.

This scene always struck me as timeless, so I tried to move it back 100 years. Needs a bit more fiddling for that 1860's look but I thought this was a decent effort so far.

Thanks guys.  I didn't think that image of Ennis in Jack's room was going to be anything when I started with it, but it did turn out that there was something there after all.  You never know when you start, what is lurking there, waiting to be pulled into existence.

Here is today's image from the DS.

Thanks Jimmy.
I like this one too, but funny thing is, my Jim doesn't like it.  Thinks it's too dark.  That's the point though...

I'm still here, I just started a new job and don't have much time for art.  I am working on a couple of pictures for the somebody new fanzine, so that is what I am focusing on at the moment.

The montage is collage of 1300 screecaps of scenes from BBM.  I thought it was an interesting excercise.

Yeah, Mobody, new job!!  I know from our talk at the BBQ you were anxious about that.  I hope it's something that allows you to be creative.
I can't wait for the SN fanzine, and to see what you come up with.
PS  Jim says congrats and hello.
