ok dumby me. does anyone know how to superimpose a pic onto a nother pic on photoshop?

using photoshop's help files, look up LAYERS, it will tell you all about it... basically, drag an image from one file into another file, and it will create the layer automatically. then you can resize, shift it around, adjust the opacity and whatnot. but check out the help files, and try doing the tutorials, those really explain a lot. good luck!

another possibly dumb Q. how do I crop the pic when its not an actual box - like around a persons head for example?

I use Paint shop pro and in that, (i'm fairly certain most of the major software operates in similar manners) look for a tool called "freehand selection", it allows you to draw an outline with your mouse and "cut out" just the piece you wish.

Oh.. it probably would help to know which software you are using, but I agree with gnash that the Tutorials are most helpful.

well im using photoshop/imageready.

I used the freeform selection thing, but im still having a hard time with it. I hate not knowing what im doing. Thanks to you both!

Thanks Can'tStandIt.  The words are Annie's.  I like to use passages from the original story to title the images.  There are a lot more coming.  Watch this thread and the Daily Sheet on Saturdays.
