Jake's Brokeback Mountain hat on ebay

The brown cowboy hat worn by Jake Gyllenhaal in the Academy Award nominated film 'Brokeback Mountain' is now for sale on ebay.

The hat comes with a certificate of authenticity. At time of writing, the bidding for it on the auction website has reached US $10,100 (NZ$14,636).

Proceeds from the sale will go to Variety Children's Charity, who assist addicted, abused, neglected and physically-challenged children in Southern California.

The charity has previously benefited from similarly auctioned items including shirts from Brokeback Mountain, tickets to the final of Amercian Idol, and the car from the movie 'Herbie Fully Loaded'.

The auction will close on Monday.

I just saw this Rodney and thought of you, are you going for it?  Wink

Thanks Lola for the heads up, but the hat is way out of my budget.  I missed out on the big wardrobe auction pieces that I bid on because closing day was a travel day for me, so just had to let 'em all go for now.  Having one of Jack's hats would have been lovely, but I'll just have to do with my own Stetson and the other wonderful items that I have already acquired.

The following is the link for the information that Lola posted above.

I am writing on behalf of Variety's Kids, the charity that sold the shirts from Brokeback Mountain on eBay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7589737258 ). We just wanted to let you know that we are auctioning an original cowboy hat worn by Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain for sale on eBay. 100% of the proceeds are going to support Variety - The Children's Charity of Southern California. We have a COA from Focus Features for the hat as well.

Here's the link:

Just so you know we have not checked out this charity, but wanted to let you know about the auction.

I hope to see this thread jammed after Christmas with BBM items that people may have gotten for gifts this Christmas!

In the meantime--here's someting for masochists:

The administration has been working extremely hard to solve the slow down issue that has been plaguing the forum for some months now. It has been determined that to solve this we will have to change the host company of the forum. The new host server has now been contracted with by Dave as of today.

We are proceeding rapidly now and hope to have the conversion complete within a few weeks at the latest and hopefully much sooner. We will keep you (members) apprised. Please look for announcements in the Newsbox. Some changes will likely come up suddenly--that is the nature of computer conversions, so it is impossible to know before we test whether something will go flawlessly and take two hours, or uncover thorny issues that will take days. The testing process is being started. This will not affect the forum at this point.

So taking this into consideration, we don't want to give you timeframes that are unrealistic. As soon as we finish a stage, we'll proceed immediately to the next, and the exact changeover will likely come on very short notice to you (members). We will post this changeover time in the Newsbox as well as in the individual threads, and will give you as much lead time as we can manage. This will enable us to end the slowdown ASAP.

Thank you for your patience.

I bought the BAFTA/UK BBM Poster and had it framed and matted on acid free paper with a pretty cool rounded gun metal frame. Still in the paper, Not goin on this wall until Feb when i paint down here.

Not at all in the league of the rest, but you get what you can get <g>

At Tower Records in San Francisco, this billboard was displayed for almost ONE YEAR!

We figured with Tower going out of business, we had better rescue the billboard!

Surprisingly it held up well over the year in spite of being outside in the elements.

We were lucky to save it before the taggers got to it.
