MY COLUMBINE BOOK
A LASTING IMPRESSION ON THE WORLD
The Definitive Account of Columbine and Its Aftermath
To be published by Dutton (Penguin/Putnam) in 2007. It developed from five years covering the tragedy, culminating in my Slate story: The Depressive and the Psychopath.
The book profiles the killers, Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold, lays out their motives, and conveys the tragedy's impact on their community. It features the analysis of several of the world's leading psychologists, and the FBI's lead investigator, Dwayne Fuselier.

Brokeback Mountain is already changing the national conversation between gays and straight. Witness all the coverage and conversation that’s already taking place.
How much Brokeback Mountain changes the dialogue, that's the question. It won't make gay-love acceptable in southern Baptist churches next month. But it will leave the conversation changed. And all the answers is already trickling in.
