Members of The Ultimate Brokeback Forum are proud to announce the publication of Beyond Brokeback: The Impact of a Film. Story selection, editing, proofreading, graphic design, layout, website design, and gathering of biographies and permissions were all carried out by sixty volunteers, most of whom were having their first experience with book publishing.

Listed below, arranged by screen name, are short autobiographies of the many talented, hard-working, and generous authors and volunteers who contributed to the making of this book.

Dave Cullen Founder/Owner The Ultimate Brokeback Forum Denver, Colorado	Dave Cullen is a journalist and author who has contributed to Slate, Salon, and the New York Times, among others. He is currently working on a book about the Columbine killers for Dutton/Penguin to be published in 2007. He's the founder and owner of The Ultimate Brokeback Forum which began on his blog in 2005.
KittyHawk Managing Editor (63) Retired education technology director Frankfort, Kentucky	Lydia Wells Sledge, the instigator and managing editor of the book project, is a former math teacher and technology director spending her retirement indulging in the arts. She loves to learn and has even begun learning about opera from Forum friends. She thanks all of her esteemed book project colleagues, past and present, who have given her many smiles, taught her many things, and expanded her horizons in wonderfully unexpected ways.
jlm1 Senior Editor Government Sacramento, California	The senior editor of the book project, Jonathan Mortimer grew up in Pennsylvania and has since lived in New York, Atlanta and San Francisco. Having failed to translate that Master's in English into a lucrative job, he works as a civil servant in state government. Opera keeps him sane-or it did until Brokeback Mountain came along.
kmich Editorial Advisor (39) Managing editor Detroit, Michigan	Kathy Nolan is a managing editor for a Detroit area reference publisher and served as the editorial advisor for the book. She is married and the mother of two young children. In the past, Kathy served as a volunteer for political campaigns and at her son's school. She is also a devoted yoga practitioner. She was a co-editor of The Daily Sheet, the forum's daily newsletter.
BigEd Research Team Coordinator Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada	Ed is a scientist and educator who helped design and implement the strategies used to search the forum. He spent a lot of time talking to the other volunteers by personal message, email and phone, and states emphatically that that was the best part of the project. When not in his lab, Ed can be found either hiking up, or skiing down, one of the local mountains.
BrokeBackBeauty Art Direction Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada	K. M. Hill has provided art direction for Beyond Brokeback, working with our artists to produce the book cover and illustrations. He is an avid aficionado and life-long student of film, theatre, opera and orchestral music, whose favorites include Mahler, Wagner, Prokofiev, Albee, O'Neill, Kubrick, Altman and DeSica. K. enjoys a career in the hospitality industry which has included at various times a full-time focus in a wide range of specializations, including rooms division management, human resources, training and development, database management, web development, training design and delivery, systems management, and art direction for a hotel marketing production department.

1224butternut (54) College Professor Syracuse, New York	Paul Wheelock is single, He loves his Newfoundland dogs and his parrots, plays guitar, is an avid bicycle rider, inline skater, and exercises daily.
alma (45) Writer and theologian Midwest	Julie is a professional writer and business owner. She's married to her best friend and biggest fan, has five children, and spends most of her time home educating them. Additionally, she's earned an MA in theology and writes a weekly column for an online news magazine about religion and spirituality.
amdaz (42) Palm Springs, California	After seeing the movie in December, Dean stumbled upon the Ultimate Brokeback Forum while looking for an outlet for the feelings it stirred in him. He was struck by how welcoming and supportive everyone was. He doesn't identify especially with either Ennis or Jack, but he recognizes their timeless love, as well as the pain of losing the greatest love of his life. Within weeks, Dean started meeting other brokeaholics in person, and has found every one to be special friends in the making. He participated in forum gatherings in Texas and Chicago, and volunteers on the forum maintaining links to related content.
amymm (36) teacher, stay-at-home mom Bay Area, California	Amy, married for eleven years, is currently a stay-at-home mom to three kids, aged 9, 6 and 2. For seven years she taught emotionally disturbed students in elementary school. She has recently decided to home-school her children after becoming disenchanted with the public schools' insistence that her children need to change in order to fit the system, and not the other way around. She hopes to model tolerance and compassion in hopes that her children will be tolerant and compassionate to others. She loves to read, knit, scrapbook and travel, is addicted to kickboxing and any form of fun exercise.
Archbishop (53) Archbishop Abbot of the Benedictine Order of St. John the Beloved Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania	The Most Reverend Bruce J. Simpson, OSJB, is a longtime equal rights advocate for the GLBT community. Author of the book The Gay Face of God, he has been published in numerous magazines and has been seen and heard globally on various television and radio programs. Archbishop Simpson served as a research assistant and editor. He lives with Jack, his partner for over 32 years, in Pennsylvania with their four Scott terriers.
Arethusa33 Bank employee Bordeaux, France	Viviane, a French bank employee, is keen on Greek mythology and Ancient Greece. She lives in Bordeaux, which is also known as the wine capital of the world.
ATruant (59) Retired British Columbia, Canada	ATruant is a former Canadian Air Force pilot. He keeps busy now walking his dog, running, cycling, skiing, doing volunteer work, traveling and keeping in touch with the new friends he has made through the Ultimate Brokeback Forum.
B73 (37) Plant biologist Northern California	Maggie began her working life as an artist but changed horses midstream and went back to school to study plant biology. She earned a PhD and is now a research scientist at a major university in Northern California. Maggie is married. She had hardly written a thing in her life before seeing Brokeback Mountain and her first poems were a direct result of seeing this movie.
Basqueboy (47) Religion teacher Basque Country, European Union	Luis A. Rodríguez is a brother in a Catholic religious congregation and lives in a poor de-industrialized neighborhood with a fellow member of the congregation and two illegal immigrants from Morocco. He loves languages, being fluent in five and understanding two others, and works every now and then as a translator.
BayCityJohn (49) Hotel controller Bay City, Michigan	John Trudell is an army brat who grew up in several states and Germany. In 1975 he helped organize the Tri-City Gay Awareness Association. He is a struggling musician and plays piano for corporate events and parties, but has decided he will no longer play for weddings until it's legal for everyone to marry. He was also the organist for a local church, but gave that up following anti-gay harassment from the pulpit. John was recently elected to the board of directors for the State Theatre of Bay City.
bcatjr (45) Nuclear medicine technologist Fort Worth, Texas	Beth is originally from Wisconsin. Her hobbies include gardening, photography and NASCAR. Glacier Park Montana is her favorite place and cruising a favorite form of vacationing. She first heard about Brokeback Mountain in November 2005. Her first viewing was Jan 16th 2006. Her second viewing on Jan 18th changed her world forever. On Jan 28th she became a member of the Ultimate Brokeback Forum where she now spends most of her time in the Juicy Bits. These threads have helped in the healing process as the many fanfiction stories provided an alternate ending to the greatest love story ever told.
Beethovenrox1770 (37) Professional Educator Weirton, WV	Michael is a professional musician and educator living in the Upper Ohio Valley. An only child born into a mixed-religion family, he celebrates the religion of love that resonates from Brokeback Mountain itself.
berdache1 (59) Social worker Owings Mills, Maryland	Paulette Young lives in Owings Mills, a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland. She has been a facilitator for a GLBT youth group in Baltimore for the past 15 years. She served as one of the researchers for this project. Paulette is looking forward to her retirement and moving to upstate New York.
Bianca Dancer Germany	Bianca Pulungan is a dancer from Jakarta, Indonesia, where she taught dance to children. Recently she, her husband and their little son moved to Germany so that she can continue her dance studies there.

Bobby19in1963 (61) Executive Assistant Phoenix, Arizona	Bobby, married to an understanding woman, and blessed with children and grandchildren, is a well-known community activist. An active church member, he has helped prepare hundreds of young men and women for missions throughout the world, and is writing a book about these experiences. Some may ask, "Why is he allowing his story to be told?" His answer, "Because it is my fervent hope that by honestly telling how Brokeback Mountain changed my life, it will resonate with readers, who will be brave enough to reach out as I am doing and free themselves from the burdens they carry."
Boris (44) Project manager, author Helsinki, Finland	Jari Koskisuu has worked in services development in the rehabilitation field for several patient advocacy groups for over fifteen years. He has also authored three books on recovery and psychiatric rehabilitation, and is currently writing his fourth book on the subject. He resides in Helsinki, Finland with his partner of fourteen years.
bradinblue Police officer Pacific Northwest	Brad B and his partner of eighteen years, Steve, reside in rural Washington. Steve is a nurseryman and landscaper. Both have large, close-knit families, and traveling and holidays almost always revolve around family members. Community involvement is important to Brad and Steve. Both have been volunteer firefighters and also participate in various local functions in the nearby very small town. They also enjoy farming, landscaping and travel. Brad is a train 'junkie' and both enjoy reading when the rains come.
brokeback_1 (51) Horticulturist/garden designer Denver, Colorado	Jack Schilling is a Brooklyn boy who has lived in Manhattan, Texas, London, Turkey and Berlin. Jack believes that Brokeback Mountain and the emotional honesty he found on the forum were catalysts which helped him change his life. He feels that his most important friendships have been renewed and rebuilt on new and stronger foundations, as a direct result. Jack also recently proposed to the lovely lady with whom he'd fallen in love at 19. They were married in January, 2007. Currently Jack's favorite hobby is redlining it around Wyoming in his cowboy hat while singing loudly and badly. He contributed to the book both as a researcher and an author, and now lives in Colorado.
brokebacklj (20) Student/actor New York, New York	LJ Regine is a student currently studying at Eugene Lang College in New York's Greenwich Village. He is first and foremost an actor, and hopes to one day affect people with his work in the same way Brokeback Mountain affected and changed his life. His dreams include marrying Jake Gyllenhaal, but if that doesn't happen he hopes to one day move to Cowboy Country and start his own gay cowboy ranch. Yee haw!
BrokenOkie (49) Accountant Oklahoma	Glenn is a self-employed accountant and part-time church musician. His other interests include car shows and antique radio equipment.
CactusGal Manager of Administration Las Cruces, New Mexico	Jan Geyer, who resides in the Los Angeles area, was a manager of administration for a large aerospace corporation for many years. She was an original co-editor of the Forum's The Daily Sheet and team leader for the DVD to Libraries Campaign.
Calgaryactor Actor, Museum Educator Calgary, Alberta	One of the co-founders of the website www.findingbrokeback.com Steve's other key association with Brokeback Mountain is that he worked on it as an actor, chatting up Jake Gyllenhaal between takes, and appearing as a "Fuzzy Blot behind Jack's shoulder" in the Jimbo Bar Scene. Steve and his lawfully-wedded husband Don are avid hikers, and enjoyed trekking to the peaks of all the BBM stand-ins during the summer of 2006.
Catalina Lawyer / writer Pacific North West	Cathalin Squire Smith is a lawyer and a writer who has been inspired by the response to her BBM fan fiction to seek publication for her non-BBM novels. She says: "I searched the net in desperation after being shot in the heart by BBM; finding this forum was a life-changing thing for me. I lurked on all the main threads, looking for solace, and ended up hanging out in the slash threads where I've been lucky enough to meet some wonderful people, including other writers with whom I correspond and exchange beta and co-writing jobs."
Changedforever (44) Journalist and editor Northern England	Changedforever is married with a teenage son at university. She is an experienced journalist, occasional fiction writer, frequent worrier and eternal optimist.
ChrisFewa (24) Graphic Artist Staten Island, New York	Chris Lattanzio currently rests his hat in New York. A recent graduate of Hunter College where he majored in Graphic Design, Chris currently works for an insurance claims company in Manhattan. Once he finishes grad school he hopes to get a job doing what he did for the BBM forum - molding reality using the power of his computer and some imagination. For now he roams the woods of Staten Island taking pictures and giving them a little extra flare.
Christina (36) Stay at home mom Portland, Oregon	Christina is mother to a three-year-old and a six-year-old. She is active in kids' school activities and enjoys running/working out.
Cincydarryl (54) Systems development support Cincinnati, Ohio	Darryl Dravland is single and has lived in Cincinnati since 1982. His most meaningful and enduring experiences are his recollections of when he spent six wonderful years singing with Cincinnati's only gay and gay-supportive men's chorus. It is an experience that he still cherishes today, as that group taught him the meaning of brotherhood, kindness and positive activism. He is also a strong and long-time supporter of those afflicted with alcoholism and drug addiction. This is his passion and where his heart lies.
City Girl (46) Financial services San Francisco, California	Grace is a native Californian. As a military kid she lived in Hawaii, Guam and Japan. Her career is in financial services/investments and she currently resides in San Francisco-and don't you be calling her city 'Frisco'! Before she discovered Brokeback Mountain, her hobbies included things like watching movies, reading books, visiting art museums, going to the ballet and theater, gallery openings, wine tasting, trying new restaurants in the city, quilting and doing other crafts. But now she is pretty much consumed by all things Brokeback. She travels to forum events and only eats what can be consumed while sitting in front of a computer screen.
Conny (43) Dog walker Ijmuiden, Netherlands	Conny Voesenek, who lives with four dogs and five cats in Ijmuiden, a small beach town in the Netherlands, is a single lesbian woman. She worked on the book as a researcher, her first experience with such a project. She scouted lots of impressive, touching stories from different discussion threads, but was most deeply impacted by the ones on the "How Brokeback affected me" thread. She's very proud that she had the chance to work on this very special book detailing stories of all these wonderful, loving people.
Cowboy Dave (51) Astronomy Professor Flagstaff, Arizona	Dave Koerner and his partner of twenty years are science professors at the Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. They have a sled team of six Alaskan Malamutes and live off the grid in the Coconino National Forest, north of the San Francisco Peaks. Dave has two grown children from a previous marriage and is co-author (with Simon LeVay) of Here Be Dragons: The Scientific Quest for Extraterrestrial Life.
Cynical21 Hospital administrative specialist Louisiana	B.J.Meche is a happily divorced mother of five and grandmother of nine who divides her time between an exceedingly demanding job and a large family. Her first love is writing and she is a frequent contributor to the Ultimate Brokeback Forum. She is also the author of a number of Brokeback Mountain fan fiction stories and poems, and writes a weekly fan fiction review column for The Daily Sheet. Her devotion to the phenomenon that is Brokeback Mountain results in part from her lifelong deep and abiding relationship with the person she calls her 'soul-mate', a man who was her first cousin and himself gay. Her one regret is that her David did not live long enough to see this landmark film.
danac (58) Property investments New York City	Dana, her husband Duane and their cat Coco split their time between their homes in Manhattan and upstate New York. A passionate cook and baker, she spends most of her free time entertaining friends. Dana is also an amateur painter and is currently working on a series of figurative oil paintings inspired by the solitude of the cowboy.
DaveinPhilly (58) Artist Pennsylvania	Davis d'Ambly and his partner of twenty-six years, Nick Johnson, are active in church and community affairs.
DCLuke (33) Human resources director Washington, DC	H. Lucas Ginn holds degrees in history and public administration and works in the nonprofit sector. His interests include gay/lesbian rights, current events, travel, literature, and film.
desertrat Vienna, Austria	Martina Glanzl is a 29-year old zoologist, currently working in the area of graphics and marketing in the field of environment protection and sustainability while doing her Phd in her spare time. She lives with her partner of 10 years and her cat in Vienna, Austria.
doug2017 (50) Internet sales of milk cows Springview, Nebraska	Doug Carr, who helped start the Gay Pride Parade in Denver, Colorado many years ago, was a close friend of the founder of the Coronation Group and voted for the rainbow flag in San Jose. He managed hardware stores for thirty years before retiring in 1993, after the passing of his partner, to the family ranch where he cared for his grandmother until her passing at age 103. Doug has a niece and a nephew and is about to become a great uncle. He now runs his internet-based business and cares for 100 cows. He also raises and cans fresh produce for winter consumption.
Elle_ann Freelance editor Cape Town, South Africa	Elle is an experienced freelance writer and editor. She served as biographies co-ordinator for the book project, as well one of the editors of the forum's The Daily Sheet, and is a single mom to two teens. She and her children are emigrating to the USA and they hope to arrive on the West Coast by mid-2007. Writing and film are her passions and she hopes to pursue further studies in both these areas once she is in the States. Although a somewhat jaded romantic, she identifies with 'Jack' in Brokeback Mountain and dreams of one day meeting her own 'Ennis.'
Elvan Sweden	Kim is from Sweden and has been on the research and editorial teams as well as assisting with collecting permissions for the book. He works as assignment staff, plays and sings jazz and gospel music. He has a degree in modern American literature and will soon have another in Musicology.
EnnisInIdaho (34) Audit Coordinator Idaho	This author has written off and on throughout his life, including a school play in high school. He enjoys spending time with his kids. Music is a huge part of his life. He also enjoys working out and spending time outdoors.
ExEnnis (36) Writer/speechwriter England	Antony is a former journalist who now works as the personal speechwriter for a major political figure in Europe. He considers himself very fortunate because he has the best boyfriend and the best dog in the world. Between the two of them, he gets all the love and companionship he can handle!
Fish (44) Manager Pennsylvania	After twenty-two years in the hi-tech industry, the movie made Mark Mueller realize how important it is to live without regrets. He decided it was time to re-evaluate his career and his relationships in order to address the loneliness that he was experiencing. He cherishes his family and friends deeply and has resolved to let them know how much they mean to him.
garry_lh (52) Mexico, Missouri	Garry Leon Hunsacker describes himself as "just an old guy surviving on disability from a car wreck twelve years ago. The most I ever was was the maintenance guy for the local farm co-op." But his ability to give words to the feelings of so many on the forum belies that humility. He believes we live in a reality that chooses not to recognize the beauty of the mysteries and possibilities that Spirit has blessed our lives with. In his mind, the message of Brokeback Mountain is: "Grab life by the horns and ride it for all it is worth!"
Gary74 (33) University Lecturer in film and television studies Nottingham, UK	Gary Needham lives with David, his partner of 12 years, in Nottingham UK, although they are both originally from Scotland. Gary writes, researches, and teaches film and television studies with a special interest in gay and lesbian topics. He is currently writing a book on gay spectatorship and 'Brokeback Fever' and co-editing a book on queer television called Pleasures of the Tube. His previous publication is a reader in Asian Cinema for Edinburgh University Press. Brokeback has transformed everything Gary thought he knew and understood about the pleasures of cinema.
gblady (58) Graduate Student Bainbridge Island, WA	Cheryl, a single mom of two young men, lives on a small island west of Seattle. She worked for 30+ years as a medical assistant. She chose to take early retirement after the death of her parents, and is currently pursuing her long time dream of getting her Masters Degree in Counseling. She has used her life changing Brokeback experience as the theme for papers and presentations during her graduate school program. These were well received by fellow students and professors alike, generating meaningful dialogues. She owns a small Plant Care business, and teaches basic computer skills as a volunteer at her local library. She has been on a lifelong spiritual path and enjoys reading, knitting, gardening, and baseball.
goaboydc (43) Registrar / Accounts Receivable Manager Alexandria, Virginia	Joe Ellington, a member of the book's editorial team, was born in Melbourne, Florida and grew up in Northeast Tennessee. He received a BS in education from the University of Tennessee and an MA in education from the University of Michigan. Joe has lived in Japan where he taught English as a Foreign Language for nine years. In 1998, he relocated to Washington, DC where he worked as an educator before transitioning to school administration. He lives with his partner and their dog Scooter, and he loves traveling.

hayek_uk (49) Higher education Central England	Charlie lives with his partner of fifteen years in the small town in England where he was born. He has also spent periods in London and the United States. He is a professional political scientist with a strong interest in local politics and was a local councillor for a time. He has been an active blogger since 2001.
imennisshesjack (44) Medical records custodian and aspirant writer Indiana	Carol O'Brien lives in Indiana with her partner Heidi and 'their' four children. She loves watching movies (one cowboy one in particular), traveling, reading, writing, spending time with friends and caring for her dogs,. She is deeply grateful to everyone connected with making the movie, as seeing it truly changed her life.
InTears (51) Broadcaster Las Vegas, Nevada	Jim Bond of www.findingbrokeback.com is honored to have been able to support the book project by providing some of the photographs upon which the images in the book are based. The work of FindingBrokeback has been to find and document the actual locations used in making the film and to encourage others to draw inspiration from them. Whether you are planning a trip to Alberta or are simply an armchair traveler who would like to spend some time at the "I did, once" lake, the Twist ranch, or the "I ain't queer" hillside, a visit to this website will help you in your travels.
Ironwood (63) Retired Psychologist West Virginia, USA	David and his life partner of 10 years share their city home with two cats and two dogs. Dave has enjoyed racquetball and white water sports in the past, loves to read and is a grandfather. He and a previous partner were first to publish a statewide distributed gay and lesbian newspaper called "Out and About". He has been active in fostering the cause of gay rights in his home town and prompted his State Psychological Association to take a written supportive position on gay rights issues in the early 1990s.
jack (63) retired Punta Gorda, Florida	Jack Magnan has worked at many occupations over the years, including short order cook, book store manager, salesman and most recently, as a substance abuse counselor at a nationally recognized treatment center. He has spent time in places as disparate as upstate New York, Hawaii, California and Florida. Recently semi-retired on social security, Jack has relocated once again to warmer climes and now braves hurricanes and freaky politics for the sake year-round warm breezes, bright sunshine and the exuberant foliage in the Punta Gorda area of Florida. Jack's proudest accomplishment is twenty-three years of continuous recovery from alcoholism. He maintains active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Janie-G (60) Geographer North West United Kingdom	Janie, who lives with her husband in north-west England, has retired from teaching geography to secondary school students. She is now occupied in researching, together with other enthusiasts, a book on Alexander the Great and is also pursuing her love of painting.
Jay63 (42) Artist Cleveland, Ohio	During a twenty-year career, Jay has exhibited artworks in over two hundred venues around the USA, as well as enjoying visits to art museums and historic sites in thirty states. He says he is currently developing plans for opening a new gallery and studio and "… most importantly, a life beyond my work."
jaybanks (36) Bookkeeper Windsor, Canada	Jay is a bookkeeper who writes in his spare time. Currently single and living in his hometown Windsor, Canada, he volunteers as a docent at the local art gallery and writes for a popular online soap opera.
Jaysmommy (43) Musical entertainer Minneapolis, Minnesota	Trish Sisson Soulen is from the East Coast, being born in New York City and raised in Miami, Florida. Married for nine years and mom to a three-year-old son, she has performed professionally as a musician and entertainer since she was a teenager. Trish served on both the research team and the editorial teams for Beyond Brokeback. She is currently completing a degree program and working toward a second career in Social Services.
Jenny Former mental health clinician Princeton, NJ	Jenny has been happily married to the love of her life for twenty-one years. She has always enjoyed writing, starting with a stint as features editor for her high school newspaper. She is a voracious reader, writes book reviews, loves to cook, is presently caring for an elderly parent, and is actively supporting gay marriage in New Jersey, a cause she espoused after seeing Brokeback Mountain. She has also become an Annie Proulx fan.
jermainp (20) Retail Supervisor and Administration Officer New South Wales, Australia	Jermaine Peters has lived in a small regional town on the Mid North Coast of NSW for most of his life. He is currently completing an external B.Comm through the University of New England and working part-time both as a supervisor in a discount department store and an administration officer in a government-funded organisation. He was greatly touched by Brokeback Mountain. It has changed his life and he is keen to keep supporting it.
Jiminspain (50) Property developer Spain	Jim McNulty is a Scot currently living in Spain. The original 'Singer Dancer Actress Model' he has been variously a child actor, choreographer, pop soubrette, and producer/ manager. He is now a property developer and is also writing a children's book cycle.
johnbeene (38) Chemist Boulder, Colorado	John K Beene, who comes from a family of Texas ranchers on his dad's side and "a bunch a Cajuns" on his mom's side, recently moved back to Boulder after an absence of several years. John loves hiking and cooking but most of all he loves long hours spent in relaxed conversation with good friends, accompanied by a few drinks and nostalgic tunes wafting on the breeze. Together, they have raised Jim's three sons - Brian, Cory and Nicholas. Jim works at a convenience store and Gabby is a retired RN. "The most rewarding experience in our relationship has been that we were able to raise our sons. There were a lot of ups and downs, but we have equally as many precious memories." She was born in Rome and this is where she still lives, in a small flat which she shares with her beloved cat, Julia. She was a travel agent for fourteen years, and now works for an American law firm as a secretary. Cinema, especially oriental directors, literature and travel are her main interests, and animals provide her with company and joy. Catia says "Brokeback Mountain is in the air I breathe since March 2006, and there it will stay".
killersmom (54) Co-owner of a needle craft shop Boerne, Texas	Linda Andrews, a recent widow after thirty-one years of marriage and the mother of two grown sons, is a moderator for the Ultimate Brokeback Forum, as well as being the co-owner of a needle craft shop. She has spent the year traveling to forum gatherings where she met numerous forum members. She recently hosted a BBQ which was attended by forum members from all over the world. She hopes to continue to traveling and promoting both the Forum and the Beyond Brokeback book.

In his twenties, he established the lesbian/gay sections in two bookstores - one in East Lansing, Michigan and the other in San Francisco, California. From 1985 - 1995 he was archivist and president of the Documentation of AIDS Issues and Research, an AIDS archival organization. He has been researcher for the composer/performer Diamanda Galas since 1987. His MLIS is from the University of California, Berkeley. He has been writing since the mid-eighties and has had two works published in literary and performance anthologies.

He is originally from Chicago, Illinois. He and his partner, also Mike, have a son, Julian, who is the love of their lives. Avid film and music buffs, their home is an odd mix of memorabilia from Brokeback Mountain and Finding Nemo. rob1318 (52) Semi-retired businessman Bragg Creek, Alberta, Canada	Rob Freeman, a father of two, bought the Brokeback Truck early in 2006, through an eBay auction from a Pincher Creek, Alberta teenager, who originally bought it from the movie. He restored it and now uses it to raise money for charitable causes. More information is available at www.thebrokebacktruck.ca . Rob also assisted in helped in the finding of movie scene locations for www.findingbrokeback.com . Some of his photos of the locations as well as pictures of the Brokeback Truck are being used in the book project. Rob is an avid hot-air balloon pilot in his spare time.

After teaching Latin at Smith College for nine years, he became a journalist. Since 1976, he has covered the arts in Philadelphia and South Jersey for the Courier-Post. He won numerous writing awards including two first prizes from the New Jersey Press Association for critical writing. The arts are his passion, with a particular love for opera and the singing voice. His reviews and feature stories have appeared in Opera News, Opera, The Opera Quarterly and other national and international publications.
Tammy (40) Assistant principal and teacher Sweden	Marleen Whiteley, one of the book project's editors, originally hails from New York but has been calling Sweden home for the past nine years. She lives outside of the beautiful city of Stockholm with her boyfriend of fourteen years and their cat, Alton. He has appeared in numerous community theatre productions and was once honored once with a "Best Actor" award. But nothing prepared him for the impact of Brokeback Mountain, which touched him in ways he can neither explain nor understand. Because the Forum has become so important in his life, Dan was delighted when invited to serve as a biographies collector. Dan has a law degree from Vermont Law School and is working towards an MBA at the University of Cincinnati. Since returning to school full-time, he is once again living with his parents and two Siberian huskies in his boyhood home in Ohio.
tulienm (61) retired Port Orchard, Washington	Tulienm and his partner of many years live on a farm in Port Orchard, Washington. Wayne has published several scientific articles on HIV prevention, behavioral science, and statistical methods. His translation of Russian poetry was published by the Italian National Commission of UNESCO. He loves cool weather, Greece, and planet formation. Wayne received injections for an HIV vaccine study, works in HIV prevention, and says: "Do your part to prevent the spread of HIV!"

wtg02 (60) PhD candidate Golden, Colorado	Tom Gibson was a psychotherapist and clinical teacher for fourteen years, but gradually became interested in organization development, management, and change. As a doctoral candidate at Saybrook Graduate School in San Francisco, he is currently conducting a narrative study of organizational visioning and the social imagination. Tom and his partner of twenty-five years live in the Rocky Mountain home they designed, and share a wide range of interests: skiing, nature, hiking, traveling, the ocean, politics, art, architecture and design, literature, music, film, and sharing good food, wine, and conversation with friends and family.
